I've been stuck in the 1100-1200 range for several weeks now. Recently I've sunk down below 1000, and still have trouble winning and going up. It has gotten to the point where I feel like I'm playing worse. I usually buy wards even if I'm a carry and it makes little difference since I can't ward all game. I used to like playing carry a lot but now I can't play them at all since everyone is going to pick a carry already. I'm not having fun or deriving any enjoyment from MM. Even when I win, I know that next game I will lose. And maybe the 5 games after that too.
I've been playing HoN for about 3 months and know that I'm not a great player. I play public games occasionally and have 1600 PSR. In those games, I have much more fun and feel like I'm matched up well against other people in that range. I don't know what to do at this point. I'm not getting better, and I can't stomp my way out of this bracket.
Thank you for your consideration.
Been where you are many many times and have been able to get out. Yes it is a struggle to the max but if you can't get out, it could be that is where you belong (in mmr). If you higher in pubs, it is like you said. You are being matched better.
I am usually able to get out by either playing easy heros like hellbringer, warding and supporting (get astrolabe or mana ring ect) and you should be able to push and win all of your team fights. Demented Shaman is also a good easy pick. Most games are pretty random. Sometimes you don't even need to do anything and your team wins easily.
I may actually consider believing the OP, every since F2P hON is smurf central.
I'm sorry to say to you OP, Matchmaking isn't designed for everybody. And it especially is not designed for people who would like to play competitively (imagine that?).
I've found out myself that unless you are playing 5-man Premades, that you're going to ALWAYS be stuck in a cycle where you have people INTENTIONALLY throwing the game, or for some reason are on a COMPLETELY different skill level than you (even if you are BROWN or ORANGE)
You would think that everybody in your MMR pool (assuming there is a 25 MMR difference between you) are all on an equal skill level as yourself. I mean, who wouldn't assume that? If you're Purple and your Blue is failing hard, you kinda expect them to be able to pull some sort of Big plays together eventually, and when they don't pull any plays together at all, you're scratching your head wondering exactly how the hell you managed to get on a team with 4 other guys who have no ****ing clue how to strategize and pull a win of their ass?
The reason being, is that there is ALWAYS going to be that ONE PLAYER who is trying to pull the game together, that one player who has more experience than the rest of his team combined, and who is desperately trying to win the game, but because the other players were never taught how to play competitively they are always going to try to be KSing you so that they have some kills rather than none at all.
Strong Advice:
If you would like to get higher in Matchmaking, find 5 man premade groups before you do, when you reach a higher bracket, find new friends to play with (unless you're playing with the same 4 people) But please don't do it by yourself. Even I can't be a hero sometimes, and I have played over 10,000 games of DotA/HoN combined, and I know literally every single trick in the book.

Pick hag and carry the game mid.

Here are ur problems.
Ck.. 74 for 37 mins.. fk that is loooooooow... but considering u play support heroes .... maybe not so bad.. depends.
Kd: Very low, u seem to die a lot, also supports..
Wards pretty good... maybe you dont know where to place them?
APM48 This is why you lose. You cant react quickly AT ALL... You must click more to react quicker dude...
Also i find it pathetic u have 900 mmr when your top played is plaguerider... the hero with the highst win %... sigh
Anyways.. its piss easy to get out of that bracket.... Pick any semicarry mid, and carry urself and ur team...
First. Learn to lasthit, play only 2-3 heroes.. Valk, Cd,Fa for example. Go mid.Carry your team... its simple... or find a few players in ur bracket u get along with and play with them
here is some real talk:
people treat you better if you've been doing well recently or your stats are good overall (cept for some trolls). if you drop a bunch of 10-2 games in a row with the big win next to it, the people will respond and believe in you to go mid or pick carry (because they have a reason to trust you).
if you can't perform consistently then you are where you are supposed to be and you need to think about what you need to do better.
Picking semicarry and going mid only works if you are better than rest of the players in same game. Bad player doesnt get better if he goes mid. Also in most cases its pretty hard to even claim mid if you are the lowest or second lowest rating in team. Just pick what is best for your team and try to do your best. You will eventually rise out. Altough im sure its gonna be pretty frustrating.
This "go Hag/dw/devo mid and force 15-20min cc" tactic only works for players that are superior in that bracket.
I agree with the above posters that its better to have a pre-made team of at least 3 in order to have a higher chance of securing a win. Pick a few heroes (with different roles) that you are comfortable with, and see if you can improve your game by playing them in a cycle instead of trying to learn a rage of different heroes.
When I first started out (Dota, not HoN) I chose 6 heroes for the week and constantly picked them to improve my game.
Also please keep in mind that you can play the same hero differently from game to game! For example: I play plague as a mid hero ganker/roamer, but if there is a need to babysit, say mad man, I'll switch to baby sitting mode/pusher.
MM can be a biatch when you are alone...we all feel it...
Well I got myself out of the 1000 brackets thanks to some friends.
I play 3v3 with them and we'd always have a good hero setup and we win about 98% of the time. We usually have the following setup:
Support -(Played by one person, so he knows what he is doing)
Carry -(Played by all 3 for us since Csrrys = Killz
)
Intiator (Tank) -(
used most of the time since its awesome
)
Each match the 3 of us would decide the hero picks and when we buy more we change each slightly.
In 3v3 we ward the rune spot and both portals.
So play with some trusted friends and 3v3 since you can find pathetic noobs trying to playwhich requires alotta farming.
If fails, use OP HERO IN 3V3!
I believe these are quite good in 3v3 :
(Strength heros works like a charm since if you even get late game you are full health vs 3, easier than 5 :P)
You think somebody who has played over 10 thousand games deserves to end up on a team with somebody who has only played 200?
It takes a brand new player about 500 games before they have the basic knowledge of how to play.

Well, for new accounts (non-verified), it's very hard to have a substantial impact on games. It really is smurf central. I played in a game where every single account was a smurf, besides me and my two friends (I guess mine is sort of smurfy too). When you're playing against 1800 players on 10kd+ accounts it's really hard to really make a difference.
That said, you can use this to your advantage. Just support the better players. Upgrade courier, buy wards, and gank the lane with the best smurf on your team. When two strong smurfs go up against each other, it's usually the smurf with most support that wins. A single stun, even if only to force consumables or win a rune race, can change the lane in favor of your smurf.
500 games is a bit steep. If people actually WANT to become better, it takes drastically less time.

How to win when you have under 1400 MMR:
Let the best player in the team go mid with a GOOD MID hero.
Pick STRONG lanes
WIN your lane
You'll win 2/3 of the games. If you can't win your lane, you are not good enough to increase in rating yet and need to practice more.
Ahh... And have SOUND on and use the VOICE CHAT. I always forget to mention it because it is SO STUPID not to use it.
get a 1650+ friend to carry you to 1500.

Hero concepts and quick drafts.
MM is crap, but having such a low rating is YOUR fault. Any decent player can easily get him/herself out of that horrendous bracket.
Even if you get yourself out of that bracket though, it's always gonna suck. Get good friends, get better, and only play TMM.
This was the wrong post to sarcastically respond to. He actually gave useful advice on how to improve yourself, which is the only thing you can do in order to win more games.
I know it's frustrating that people are kids and want to troll more than they want to play the game, but you are powerless unless you have 4 friends to TMM with.
