Well lets look at it like this:

Spell Shards:
-6 Magic Armor

SoTM:
1 Extra Wave


So basic ulti is 9 waves:

So SOTM Ulti = 10 waves 10x110 = 1100 but then you take 24.8% for standard magic damage what makes the damage ~66 Damage a wave and 66 x10 = 666 waow

So Spel lshards + Ulti = 9x110 = 990 Pure straight up damage since basic magic armor = 5.5 and rift shards level 3 = -6 magic armor

I think i worked that out correct and god i provably made a fool of my self.

Imo the cd reduction on lava surge, steambath and pk are worth a lot more then the extra hp in terms of survival.

Ulti without sotm is 9 waves as you pointed out earlier. Still the damage output is higher on spellshards, at the cost of survivalability when comparing the 2 when ignoring the potential damage output increase from the range boost. For team clashes i still prefer SoTM over spellshards for the survivalability and possiblity to hit more targets.

Here you go, I hope I got it right...


Rank 3 Staff boosted ult + rank 4 stun against a hero with standard magic armor (-24,8% damage reduction ) will do:

(280+12x110)x0.752 = 1600x0.752 = 1203,2 damage. (Yes the staff boosted ult hits you 12 times if you stand on top of magmus, I tested it 3 times).


Rank 3 ult + rank 4 stun + rank 3 spellshards against a hero with standard magic armor (spellshards makes it 0 reduction ) will do:

280+10x110=1380 damage.


The spellshards ult + stun combo does 176,8 more damage then the staff boosted ult + stun combo against a hero that has the standard magic armor. (5.50 = 24,8% reduction).

I never understood why one would get shrunken on Magmus, especially after you have your pk you shouldn't ever be getting your ult interrupted and other than that I don't see its use.
