I really suck at HoN, if you can't already tell with my psr and everything.
I think I do pretty well early game, I can get to level 6 as fast as everybody else, and I harass people out of their lane about 50% of the time.
It's the midgame and lategame that really gets me. I know that I'm supposed to jungle when there's no creep, or its too risky, but even then I still am underleveled and then start to die more than I should in the late game. I don't know what I should do mid and late game to farm so that I can level up faster and NOT be underleveled.
What can I do in situations, like when I'm underleveled midgame or lategame, so that I can get higher leveled or at least not UNDERleveled?
Indeed.. farm farm farm farm, only hoin teamfights where you know there will be a kill.. dont stand around idling waiting for oposing team to come.. allways do something.. if your moving from bot to top.. ward (even a carry can spare 100-200gold once in a while) and if you got crap aoe's, its best not to jungle unless your midish lvl or higher, takes to long and you take to much dmg..
IMO u shouldnt play carries if u are underleveled in games, being a carry is a duty, not a privilege.
And then discover you don't have enough mana for your entire combo when the teamfight breaks out. oops.Use abilities to farm faster.

just buy a homecomming stone and go on about your buisness, come when necessary, i can't see other reasons why you'd be underleveled, if you're playing support though, that's normal if you're playing correctly, if you're affraid to farm then buy wards, this is basic HoN
Mostly depends on what hero are you using (Carry, support, ganker). If you are a carry, then try to farm as much as you can in the neutrals, or you can also static farm if you know how to efficiently. If you are a ganker, then do what your name says. GANK! This will give you lots of exp and some gold. If you are support, then try to be as helpful as possible to your team, buying wards, or supportive items. Being a support you really dont need the lvl advantage, and it is completely normal to be underleveled.
I don't play carries, I only played like semi carries, but not any hard carries.
I play more supports than usual, and I know they are the heroes that are mostly underleveled, but I keep dying and start to semi feed. I don't feel that I am contributing enough to my team, but I'm like always 4 levels behind in the mid game.
I would suggest you fight for farm, especially if playing with pubs. Every hero has an ideal way to kill a creep wave, ie, the fastest way to get all the creep. So practice doing that with different heroes. Same with jungling, don't forget to check the time and stack if u can.
If you are playing carry for your team then always farm first and think about ganking/defending second. Any time you spend away from farming is wasted time.
Now with that all said, regardless of your lvl or items. In any team fight its all about positioning! Is your hero meant to be in the middle of a fight? Are they meant to be on the outside? Do they throw nukes and then hide until cooldowns finish? What is the range of the enemy spell? Can they blink and pick you off?
Being aware of your position in a fight and what you can do to the opponent and what they can do to u is the biggest difference between living and dying. Knowing if you are at a disadvantage in a fight and your escape route is vital before evening jumping in.

Stay alive in teamfights, be around for ganks and hero kills. If you're a carry then I think the main idea is just to never, ever idle. If you see an empty lane getting pushed up to your tower, tp to it and farm the creepwave. If you're passing a jungle camp when it's about :45 or so, stack it. Try not to waste time standing around a tower waiting for one team or the other to initiate a teamfight when it's early-mid game.
Watching replays of better players has to be the single most important thing to improve your play. Start there above everything else. You will learn more from a visual rather than having 10 people tell you stuff that is common sense.
Do NOT run from lane to lane, get creep exp.
If you need health or mana, use the courier, don't walk.
Help an ally, use tp.
