Look for my highlighted text (important information) and grey text (interesting but not required information).
Nothing wrong with the balance dump thread.
Let me spell it out plain for you
Angry people complain about the things I do
I'm not changing direction, I'm stepping my game up
Maintaining my name, the same way I came up.
Truth is, I thought it mattered
I thought that music mattered.
But does it? Bollocks!
Not compared to how people matter.
It's just a special slice of stupid, so we don't have the filling splattered all over the forum. Ideally anyways.
What types of fan mail do you get? If I might ask, or should I perhaps send a PM instead?
Stats are like women in bikinis, they are interesting to look at however they don't show you everything.
HON Shore is an American reality television series that premiered on the HON forums on whenever the **** this game came out in the United States. The series follows the lives of roughly 50 nerds spending their summer playing HON 24/7. Season 2 followed the nerds arguing over being disqualified by Bdiz, known as "Rule Book Bdiz" and "Greasy Nerd Sandwich" with Season 3 involving choir teacher and sexual deviant Tralfamadore leaving team SK and joining SGTY, a team most composed of under 20 year old adolescents. HON has announced that a fourth season, filmed in Europe, will premiere on August 4, 2011.As of June 4, 2011, these nerds have not resolved their differences and continue to be nerdy and do nerd **** all day long, every day.
And I do. So what now?
Anyways chances are we're going to just have Yawning now or something. I swear to god if there's ANOTHER Rampage or Accursed thread like before, I will have an aneurysm. Then I'm taking you all with me.
Currently YawningAngel is the only moderator for the section until we find and train someone else.

If I wasn't so busy during the weekdays due to work, I would apply. Quite sad.

From what I've learned the key to a successful forum (many page views and replies) is to have like 50% quality posts that people agree with and comment on because they agree and 50% provocative posts which people reply to because they just have to show why it's wrong or provocative. (The numbers might vary, the point is to have both to an extent).
While I doubt this is why certain moderators gets removed or some does not get approved, it still might be (It's a conspiracy for power and cash!). Think economically mods and you shall be approved! Just filtering away the half-trash post (insight wise) is gonna draw less attention to this particular section as a whole, while the experience for people who come here regularly might or might not get better if all the insight-wise "fail posts" got removed.
Stats are like women in bikinis, they are interesting to look at however they don't show you everything.
The most successful forum I've ever seen was one which defined itself more by what the members constituted as an organisation by posting there, and defined the value of posts by their usefulness in creating something.
I think there's a clear imperative for the balance forum to create something, and I think that's not something that's been developed properly. There is also a clear choice in whether you post here or not, and the balance forum has always had a set of rules which posters agree to adhere to (presumably) before/by posting here. With these two things together, I wholeheartedly think you have enough to make this forum something that can't be done without.
I've already applied. I'm assuming I ****ed it up somehow and it didn't get submitted, it wasn't what they were looking for in an application/they don't want me or they have a really long turn around time on any back of house admin. I'm assuming that in any case they'd let me know their decision in a timely fashion...

Yeah well in most forums almost everything gets approved and if it isn't what people like it gets removed rather than threat gets approved because the mod thing it's gonna be good.
I'm not saying we should take that away, but this section of this forum is one of the special ones in that regard.
The two most successful forums (visitor-wise I guess, not counting 4chan but yeah) that I've been to has either had a voting system for the members to in a sense decide what should be show and what should not be shown. The other forum basically is alive because it allows for discussion about things that are normal(which everyone can relate to) or highly highly provocative, the moderatiors really only removes a topic if it has been brought up already or if they violate laws, such as posting CP(discussion about it is okay but posting it is NOT okay). Now we know we can't really have that here, on a large scale.
Why? Because this is a niche forum. It's even nicheception, a niche within niche(doesn't sound right).Balance discussion about one game only. Normal rules to make it successful or not might or might not be as easy to apply in certain niche situations. It has to be about HoN and it has to be about balance, moreover to start a thread it has to come with a back-story, well written opinions and things to back it up with and it has to somewhat make sense from a competitive POV.
I must say that when I post, I post because I have a strong urge to say my opinion. Mostly because someone said something that provoked me or if it was something I agreed to so much that I had to back it up, often if someone challenges what I agreed with in the first place which, when you think about it, is provocative in itself. I realize this might not apply to everyone.
Ah well, I assume that what someone would want from a moderator is someone that can promote discussion while filtering away the **** that isn't within this forums borders. Keeping it as it should be, balance about HoN from a competition POV, while also making the forum look active with a decent ammount of threads open so that new threads won't have to flood in constantly about the same thing.
Now I'm just blowing this from my ass and form what I would want from/in a moderator of this forum. I am by no means an expert either. I'm not saying that certain individuals wouldn't fit in with this description either, because I barely know any of you, I only know some of your opinions on some of the heroes and such things.
While it might look like I'm against what china did at times(regarding removing threads), I actually liked most of the things he did which I found kind of new at least.
Namely polls and stuff. Polls are nice and visual, if anything keep the polls please! I love them so. I realize they are not showing if a hero is balanced or not, because they won't, but they are a good indication of what many people think at least.

The polls are good simply for the fact that you can give an opinion without making a relatively useless one-liner post, which a lot of the lurkers of this forum would appreciate.

I agree that polls are good. They help fulfill one of the functions of the forum, which is to enable broad polling (derp, see what I did there) of opinion on a hero.
Miss the polls, not that I voted in most of them.
