Yeah I must admit I have not watched that many DotA games, only a few, and when I saw Lich he was actually soloing 1v1. I am not surprised to learn that he is used more as a mid 2v2 mid, which he is on occation even in HoN or in the pubs that I play.
Stats are like women in bikinis, they are interesting to look at however they don't show you everything.
This hero is still way too safe a pick. I don't get why people think he ult is fine because you can spread out. With any kind of creep support it's highly unlikely you will completely avoid the ultimate, and a hero who is running away from the ultimate is not providing DPS or CC for at least 3 seconds in a team battle. It's just too powerful an ability for a hero who has complete lane dominance in 95% of situations and no need to actually farm items- compare it to glacius ult for example and how much easier it is to counter that.
I remember in dota how bounce type skills stopped when a player ran into fog. Why is it not like that in this game?

Are not most supports pretty safe picks? Sure some of them are more niche than others however I'd still say that even if you were denied a -armor setup for some reason Andromeda would still not be bad.
Maybe I ignored your point, but I would say that while Plague Rider's lane dominance is pretty decent, it's not an instawin. While a Plague Rider lane can be offensive because of his short cd nuke, I'd say that someone having Glacius' stuff as support when going in for a kill will have an easier time in certain situations.

Really, go and watch some comp games with Plague Rider in them. Preferably more than one.
