    Work in progress (Peasant)

    Peasant
    Strength - melee

    Affiliation: Legion

high base strength, very low int, low agi - he is a strong worker, yet pretty dumb and clumsy
low str gain, no int gain, low agi gain - no matter how hard he works he will not get smarter
200 movespeed - he is not in a hurry to go anywhere

This hero is based upon the concept of a peasant just trying to make his way in Newerth, trying to work his way up the ladder of standing.
My proposed model for him would be a thin man wearing rags and carrying a pitchfork. No voiceover, because peasants arent allowed to speak.

The peasant has a permanent self debuff that drains his gold, and if he ever reaches 0 gold he dies of hunger. This is to prevent a peasant from slacking off, and getting him to farm for his masters. The debuff is called 'A Peasant's Life' and drains 3 gold per second (can be reduced by taking a certain skill). Additionally, he doesn't generate gold as everyone else does.

    Skills:

    First skill - Hard Work

The peasant knows that the only way to get by in this world is by hard work. That is why he has learned how to fake doing hard work!

Mechanics: Peasant gains the ability to fake critical. Whenever he attacks he has a 20% chance of printing damage numbers (like those that appear with critical strike) above his head, but no damage is increased - this is to make it look like the peasant is actually doing anything while not doing anything.

Numbers printed are 2/2.5/3/3.5 times his damage.

    Second skill - No Sleep

The peasant knows that just hard work isn't enough. You can't sleep all day, because that would leave no time for working.

Mechanics: Reduces the duration of Succubus' Mesmerize skill. Doesn't do anything else.

    Duration is reduced by 50%/60%/70%/80%

Third skill - Put Some Gold Aside

The peasant is planning on rising above his status sometime soon, and to do that he needs money. He is stealing from his master in order to fulfil his lifelong dream of one day becoming a nobleman.

Mechanics: Reduces the amount of gold drained by 'A Peasant's Life'

Drain is reduced by 0.5/1.5/2.5/3 gold per second. That means that with this skill at level 4 he will no longer suffer from the drain. He will still not generate gold like others, though.

    Ultimate skill - Peasant Uprising

Sometimes enough is enough and its time for Peasant and his identical friends to grab their pitchforks and do something to change their lives for the better.

Mechanics: Summons 10/20/30 images of the peasant. All images take 100% damage and deal 1% damage. Duration of 30 seconds. The mana cost should be so, that the peasant can't cast this skill with his base mana pool (he needs to buy items that give him extra mana just to cast his only active spell!)

any ideas on how to make this hero even more fun to play / more viable for competitive play? maybe change around some numbers?

Greatest idea ever. Instant implentation required!

For him suggested items could be Logger's Hatchet, then the item which was Hand of Midas in Dota.

Furthermore, for this hero, new items should be implented into the game such as bread, pitchfork, shovel, hoe, sickle. Each of those could also buff the peasen't skills. F. ex "This ability is boosted by pitchfork"

Also - an addition to this hero's ulti should be the ability to destroy a building. (You know, how they used to burn builds in their uprisings).

what an awesome idea, synergy with loggers hatchet. chop down the trees to clear the land and then turn it into a field.

i had another idea, because he might be a bit overpowered right now, every minute there should be a random chance to take away 90% of the peasants gold (new taxes levied to support the war effort). would make it more difficult for him to put gold aside, thats for sure!
