    Midas Discussion

So what are your thoughts, skillbuild, and items?

  2. #2
I've only been thinking you should only combo with W for stun, in that way you can stun for 2sec every 6 sec which is pretty epic.

Mana ring is a must, he clears creepwaves so fast.

And I've been thinking PK and riftshard.

**** it, play him as if he was pebbles.

I am wondering why there are not many threads on this hero so far...must not be op. He also has a pretty good win % so far. I only played him using practice mode. I imagine since 3 of his spells deal magic damage spellshards would be a good pick up if you get them early, and his ult increases the magic damage of his spells.

I am also thinking because of his blink and stun getting a frost plate would be a good pick up. Maybe even some survival and a mock sounds good too.

Why not blood chalice? And PK feels unnecessary.

Feel like spellshards is gonna be a must-have since he is all magic damage and reliant on abilities being off cooldown.

Mana ring, frostfield, frostwolf seem viable too.

Been playing him lots. I find mana ring just isn't enough regen, tend to go bottle and challice and that way cope alright

  7. #7
    i play him as a roaming ganker/pusher:
    wards
    homecoming stone
    striders
    ring of sorcery
    Blood chalice
    sheepstick

been pretty good. when your team has strong gankers you help and push the lanes back. when they aren't you push a lane to bait and gank somewhere else on the map

I usually start off with two parts of the tablismen and tangos. That leaves you with a decent sum of gold to buy a quick bottle. Then I get mana ring, as I find it helps me support my team whilst pushing, and I just love it in general. I then get steamboots or post haste and from then on just get items depending on the enemy team.

Ring of sorc not good enough. Nomes wisdom heals so much.

Portal Key on him seems like a really good idea, so you can make better use of the damage of your blink, and he's really positioning dependant, so it helps you to properly set up your heal.

    Mid stats build: 3-1-1-2-1-4-1-2-2-2-4-3-3-3-S-4

    Lane stats build: 2-3-2-1-2-4-2-1-1-1-4-3-3-3-S-4

    Item build:
    Early: Steamboots, Chalice and Bottle
    Core: Tablet of Command, Hellflower
Luxury: Spellshards, Shrunken Head, Nullstone, Frostwolf's Skull

    Right now I've played 7 games, 6 wins -- 1 lost.

I also feel that Portal Key is a nice pick-up on him as he sort of plays like Bubbles and increasing AoI for this kind of hero is never a bad idea. He is manastarved almost the whole game though so you gotta fix that early on.

I been trying an semi early spellshards.. And it's insane.

  15. #15
how about plated greaves instead of steam boots?
gives you more armor and you will be able to push the lanes faster (you can heal/damage the creeps like nymphora and rhap)

    I haven't played him yet.

What are you guys thinking when it comes to boots?

  17. #17
Depends where you lane him seeing as he does will pretty much anywhere. I personally like him as a mid hero but as a follow-up rather than an initiator. He can initiate quite well but against players who have a clue his stun is far from reliable.

Personally no matter where I go I will get mana ring on him. The benefits of mana ring are too great to ignore. Plus the huge amount of mana it gives will put you >1000 mana at around lvl 6. If I lane mid with midas I will go bottle>red boots>mana ring>steam boots>spellshards then whatever situational item after that. If the game goes on long enough I've found null stone to be particularly useful because of the survivability+mana regen.

As for skill build I've been maxing Q first then W then E last. And I'll follow that order when initiating or following up. In my opinion I think maxing W over Q might be the way to go for the highest amount of damage output early seeing as most good players will just walk in a different direction to avoid his Q and his W is more of a circle AOE instead of a line.

wouldn't it be better to grab a sustainer and then move to null right away instead of getting mana ring?

tablet is only good at the moment because his blink has such a long wind up.

  19. #19
I like tablet, chalice, phase boots as a core

    spellshards are obviously good

    blink is solid as well

Personally, the build I've been using is 3-2-2-1-2-4-2-1-1-1, etc. His W is extremely powerful in lane with creeps there to maximize the effect. His blink does a ton of damage if you can hit someone with both shockwaves, but the long windup makes this impractical--1 point gets you all the mobility and cooldown

    I have been going: Bottle>Power supply>Red boots>Chalice>Steams>SpellShards

It's been working quite well, but today i'm going to try building him like my TB where Push stick is involved. I am also going to build him similar to my hag/bubbles where I go fast null stone. My above build has been getting me nice KDR but I have lost all my games with him thus far (have not had the best team mates, and many are still learning how the hero works).
