Opinions about a song ivè written (Melodic Metal)

Hi there.. Just wanna share a tune me and my friend wrote recently. We have influences from In Flames/KSE and overall melodic stuff.

It isnt done with mix and no lyrics recorded. If someone would do some lyrics associated with HoN it would be cool

Great job. Rythm guitar is a bit too sloppy for my taste, but maybe that's just me. Very nice solo guit though.

    Thanks for commenting!

Yeah, it is a little sloppy but we are gonna record it with better equipment later on so we havn`t been supertight (but it is no excuse ofc)

Well yeah, the solo is what im the most pleased with actually heh. Ty again

Just ordinary metalcore. Try to find a niche that makes you unique.

don't use zshare, use soundcloud or something that doesn't need WMP plugin + has 10,000 ads (jesus christ even with adblock i got 3 just downloading the mp3)

um, i don't listen to metal but it sounds nice. very generic guitar sounds (a lot of the stuff in it is really cliche), and you really need to work on mastering your stuff (though also maybe recording equipment? i have no idea what you're using so can't judge), but you're definitely capable of writing stuff at least

try doing stuff with your guitars other than just sticking them through distortion pedals or you're going to end up sounding like any other metal group - unless you're aiming for that. there are reams of hardware you can pick up such as vocoders, harmonizers and so forth that you could use to vary the sounds and make them really stand out, or maybe even more exotic instruments or synthesisers on top of the guitars? just ideas, i have no idea what your bands aim is so i can't really comment, just my 2 cents

i like the melodic parts though, good work and i hope you do well in future!

kay, ima be pretty critical, but i wanna say first off this is pretty decent overall.

    1. the rythmn guitar is far too crunchy sounding. either your using a terrible amp or the mixing job was rushed.

    2. instead of having the rythmn guitar chugging the entire song after the intro, have it harmonize with the lead in some parts. and mix the chugging rythmn up a bit. it sounded like pretty much straight chugg

    3. overall, its too homogenous. other then the solo (which is quite well done), there arent really any distinguishable parts other then "that one riff" and the intro

other then that its decent but hes right, you need to find something special if you really wanna be set apart from the pack (which is quite huge these days in metalcore.)

thx guys for your honest opinions! Ive changed to soundcloud now (thanks for the tip)

We are gonna record in a studio with better gear and with a professional (consider this a demo) , It was recorded at home using Cubase wich we are no pros in :/.

But yeah i get what you guys mean. It is pretty straight forward but it works for band like Killswitch Engage and so on. It isnt always the most edgy bands who get the most attention. There are masses who likes easy stuff too

killswitch is a bad example of melodic metalcore.

as i lay dying or all that remains are far better.

    KsE was just the "first"

But how popular are not In Flames? They play really easy stuff but great melodies and a heavy groove can take you places!

Not saying that we are to compare with them att all.

Well you can only play the style you feel comfortable with. We have a thing for lots of melodies and that sort of things. We were earlier a thrash band with influences from Dimension Zero, The Haunted etc. BUT! there were no good drummers where we lived who could thrash away so to say haha.,, So we shifted towards this.

Who plays the drums? I like this, you guys are good!
I don't think that people realize just how hard making music is.
I do know something about it.

Writing is easy once you know the basics (easy even if you don't know anything).
Playing is easy if you know your instrument, which is easy to learn if you're committed.
Mixing is easy if you know how, and there are tons of tutorials that can show you if you're having a hard time.
    Distributing has never been easier.

Music is easy, but very time-consuming. That's all.
