Actual price comparison between LoL and HoN as of 8/23/11

OK, I'm mathematically comparing the prices of heroes in LoL and HoN...
as of 8/23/11

it takes 67860 RP to unlock every champion in LoL with the cheapest RP pack that's $525 with the most expensive it's about $500(but you'll have about 3000 extra RP)

For HoN it's 13550 gold coins for every hero for the cheapest coin pack it's $330 for the most expensive it's $240

The EA heros add 800 gold coins to the mix so $350 for the cheapest package but the same $240 from the most expensive since you had 1000 extra gold coins about.


In LoL the average cost per hero is 838RP that's more than the $5 package so you have to spend at least $10 on average which makes sence since over 1/2 thier heroes are 975RP, you get 650RP for $5 1380 for $10 so $10 gets you about 1 and 1/2 heroes.

In HoN the average hero cost is 154 gold coins or with the EA heroes 159 gold coins.
Only 8 heroes cost 250 while the rest cost 150. $10 get you 420 coins that's almost 3 heroes for $10 twice the amount $10 gets you in LoL


So in conclusion HoN is 1/2 the price of LoL even though HoN has 7 or 9 more heroes(depending on if you include EA or not)

you can't buy runes with RP(gold coins) only IP(silver coins) and you get 3 rune pages for free(2 until level 30 then 1 more when you hit 30)

Well if you did throw in EA for HoN why not throw in cost of rune pages ? Obviously some heroes need specific rune's and 3 page is not enough if you want to play more than few heroes in a while.

In HoN it's about $5 for the most expensive non-EA heroes and only about $5.60 and the other heroes are $3.33 Still ridiculous but not as bad as the about $7.50 for 1/2 of the LoL heroes...

Imagine if 1/2 the heroes in HoN had EA prices, that's what it's like in LoL

no, but I didn't for LoL either. This would have very time consuming as I would have to cross each hero off the list. And that would involve scrolling up and down and second guessing if I already included a heroes price or not instead of just sorting the lists by price and multiplying the values and adding them together. Besides, bundles change, this offers a more balanced look at prices.

except that if you want to start playing ranked right as you hit 30, you need to buy an IP boost, otherwise you'll have all tier 2 runes and be at a disadvantage.
also have to take into account that all alt avatars in LoL are RP only, and everything in HoN is also purchasable with silver coins.

Or you can be smart and just not buy any runes until your level 30? Tier 1 and 2 runes are a waste of money. I never bought any. I did buy a few heroes though and was able to buy 3 pages worth of runes as soon as I hit level 30...

Also I'm not counting skins.. This whole thing was supposed to e about Heroes only since every one in the general discussion has this crazy idea that buying every hero in LoL is like $100 and it's $200 in HoN...

also, you can buy the game from amazon for like $5 with about 15-20 heroes and some skins. So your price of lol is incorrect
