Pay-for-Unfair-Advantage (PfUA) and S2's second biggest public relations screwup
By going to a 100% microtransaction payment plan, HoN is presumably going to steal much of LoL's playerbase. Also, there are many great improvements in this patch.
Let's focus on the bad stuff.
Firstly, the PfUA model will ruin AP for anybody that won't play tourney mode. This isn't a huge deal when you think about it. AP was bad anyway and all the other modes will be safe from bought OP new heroes.
Anyone paying to take advantage of OP new heroes will have an inflated MMR.
The second big concern is the ease with which newbies can get in your games. This is little different from pre-patch. I think the main concern here is that S2 could have done it so much better (new players play each other - see suggestion on ELO in sig).
So PfUA brings a minor loss to legacy players who paid $10-30.
And S2 have screwed up the presentation as usual. They are really really bad at this for some reason. If they'd compensated us with eg 500 gold coins, few would have minded.
Advice to S2 - don't gloss over where you're screwing over 100% of your playerbase. You really don't think we'll notice? Explain why it isn't so bad and give us something in return.
they need to give us 1000 or at least 500 gold coins for the $30 we paid before (i paid 40 including my subaccount, and then i also spent another 60 for other shiet. THX S2).
