    No Pause Countdown

    Good morning everyone.

    This is a poll to remove the countdown after the pause vote succeded. (Or less countdown (like 2 sec))

    This means that you dont have to wait 5 seconds until the game pauses BUT the countdown for the resume remains.

    The reason is that the countdown has no real purpose you cant cancel the pause or anything like that you only suffer from the countdown.

    Here an example:

    Someone disconnects in the game and you vote to pause. Now you have to wait 1-3 seconds until everyone accepts and after that 5 whole seconds until the pause goes throug.

    The disconnected hero is in there 6-8 seconds half way back to base or been killed by the enemy and most of the time you cant control the hero bcs the game disconnects him to late.

    You also have to wait for the people to pass the vote...

    Thats right too and nowadays you can expect that most ppl will question you pause so you have to wait 3 seconds until the vote is passed and then 5 seconds until the pause is through.

    Was expecting an autopause suggestion for dc heroes but this change actually is good.

    haha we actually lost a mmr game cuz the enemy kept unpausing and we played it on, then when pebs was at 10 seconds left i saw his recconect icon come back, so i voted pause asap, and took my team like 5 seconds to clue in, and he d/ced when countdown was at one. no joke. Was actually kind of funny, but yeah he was our solo mid and without him game was really close cuz we were doing well b4 he d/ced, and in end we lost . I'm gonna include it in a failmoments vid im making actually.

    There's no reason to change the length of the countdown, back in DotA leagues it was mandatory to do a written countdown yourself before you could pause.
    (Example)

    I need to pause quick
    *wait 3 seconds for all plays to acknowledge*
    5
    4
    3
    2
    1
    (Pause Game)
    *Usually a max time of 5 minutes per team, or wait to resume*
    OK to unpause? / Unpausing (Wait for acknowledgement)

    @ Demky sorry but i requested to change it bcs it was public and it had to be private or something so it is now hidden

    @Pendragon: it can be but as far as i know it isnt anymore it is insta in DotA too. Even if not the games handle dc different in DotA if you have a dc the game knows it immediatly (bcs the wait time is too short) but hon need like 5-8 seconds until it recognize your dc.
    And i would say no countdown wouldnt hurt would it?

    My best fail moment was a game where the an enemy disconnected. The enemy team then tried to pass a vote to kick him.

    Two seconds after they all voted yes, we saw him start to reconnect. So of course we voted yes and passed the vote.

    Pretty dick thing to do, but still funny.

    Don't make it instant, but maybe lower the countdown to 3 or even 2 seconds

    (with a premade team, the instant pause could definitely be abused to make plans on what to do next on a situation)

    @Jezu Even if they would do it like that they only have 3 pauses. Strategic pauses are not uncommen in DotA matches too but they dont have a advantage through the pause they cant kill someone they only can talk who to focus first like the other bcs they have the pause too.

    I still don't see a reason why it wouldn't just be lowered to 2 seconds. It would be almost instant, but make the players be prepared for it.

    ok 2 seconds would be sufficent i think but they can tweak the instant pause if they need but 5 seconds are too much

    How about NO, so that I can finish chasing legion, cast an ulti, and then at least click to move back towards a tower before the pause actually interrupts all that timing and stuff?

    Voted no. Because the cool down gives me five seconds to run back to the game after it the other team has paused it and I have alt+tabbed.

    you can to it until the pause vote goes through that (depends on skill level) needs like 3 sec to go through.


    The countdown for the resume is still there.

    Dude, bumping your own post repeatedly is bad form.

    I voted no. The countdown to pause is just as important to the countdown to unpause.

    Why? Because otherwise people can start using it at the very beginning of a team-fight to plan out a fight based upon the present player positions. HoN is about thinking on your feet, quick communication, and being able to anticipate player's actions. There is really no reason to remove this countdown and a good reason not to.

    I have to bump this thread bcs it dies otherwise bcs nobody looks past the second page.

    To your point it could be but remember you only have 3 (!) pauses and there are more teamfights then 3.

    And if one team pauses to think about the teamfight the other team can think about it too so its not like your in an disadvantage.
