You can click on the skull to make the aura affect heroes only. That way you're better hidden.

Not sure if it's the same as dota, but in DOTA allied auras did not work while stealthed. So unless you had an offensive aura / mock, nobody would know you were nearby.

Abyssal Skull does not have an activation, to the best of my knowledge. You may want to double check that.

Why in the world isn't this a premium guide yet?

Probably because no one has added or removed a guide from the premium section in a while, although I might be mistaken.

Mods really need to get on that; this guide is crazy good.

Lol read it at work too! ^^

It was a very good guide indeed! It covers any aspects you could possibly think of regarding NH. Can't wait to get home to play now

Absolutely deserves to be in the premium section. This guide gives more and better advice than half the premium forum added up...

Shouldn't you mention that Frostburn is a good item now? Or, is it? I mean it doesn't cost that much more (when you already have mentioned slash) and gives you a good slow.

Read it. Took forever. >.> but this guide is for sure a premiu-- no. Godly guide. makes me want to play Nighthound more, and makes me rage at people getting all the wrong item builds because they play him to just KS's. FFFFFUUUUUUUU

Because of the agi stack & illusions gaining backstab, i'd say geo > frostburn. I usually don't find mana to be an issue with NH at all really, and the one perk the whispering helm has over skull is the option to ancient stack which should be done in any mid-high lvl game imo.

*great guide ofc, the diff ways to use his skills is def invaluable.

Does Abyssal even work on allies when you're invisible?

  14. #174
Yes, Frostburn is great. You can scrap it for Geomancers Bane and Frostwolf's Skull if it goes super late.

Substantially in depth guide, but you do have a typo:

"5) It's GREAT for TOWER DEFENSE and STOPPING PUSHES - it stops melee attackers form hitting the tower."

Other than that, I learned quite a bit, thank you.

    Which do more damage?

    Geobane or Winged Bow?

Umm, well I haven't obviously read the whole 9 pages so I'm not sure if that's been mentioned before or not.

I usually go phase boots > nullfire blade > geo bane > brutilizer.
The reason behind my combination is, nullfire ofc is pretty good vs pesti and jere. It's also useful at chasing heroes. geo + brutilizer I get those so I can kill heroes like legionnaire or other tankers. Also works well sometimes on heroes with escape mechanisms. So yea if the game gets longer I'd try to go for a wing bow and rifts shards. This item set combination is based on the theory of killing a lot of ppl and escaping.

I've seen other item combinations which didn't appeal much to me, like phase boots > abyssal skull > wing bow > rifts shard and sometimes a helm of black legion inside. That's usually turning nh into a tanker, and yea, it works well as far as I've seen but it just doesn't appeal to me for some reason.

Also I've seen lately the new hack n slash + wing bow + enhanced marchers which appeared to be efficient.

Sooo, I'm wondering which combination of those 3 is the best? I can't really tell.

    thx

    Guide author here,

I tend to skip nullfire entirely as I can gank with Ghost Marchers and firebrand (slash) just as good.

My progression these days is IS - Power Supply - Ghost Marchers - Firebrand + Icebrand then Wingbow, Skull and turn Frostburn into Geometers and Frostwolf.
