Just played through on this guide then, first time i used night hound but i got 6/2/8 kda with it which i reckon with a bit of practice i could be quite good with it =]
Great guide!

My first game of NH, with shitty teammates I went 12-2 and we won.
Can't agree with everything on the guide, some parts are rly "missguiding"...
If someone wants to know how to play him, watch

Yeah, well, apart from following much of the advice in this guide (like teamplay, and demonstrating diferent uses for skills I enumerated into detali here), a couple of friends and I watched that replay carefully a couple of times and decided that while that player was good, his NH was just standard considering his team composition.
If he went for Ghost Marchers he would've had even more kills as you can clearly see people running away from him because they are faster a couple of times which wouldnt've happened if he followed this build. Also, going for soulscreams is ok, but if ge went for Firebrand right away he would've raped like there is no tommorow.
Also, you can clearely see why I argue against Nullfire blade as by the time he got it he used it effectively about once or twice, and with frostburn as the first item he would've had the slow just from attacking and would've had at least dancing blade for wingbow by the time he was finishing Frostburn.
Taking mid, bottle was the way to go and he utilized it fine, but I don't advise average skilled people without a heavy ganking team to go that way, and I have a certain responisibility to ALL the pople who read this guide.
Also, that game is a nice illustration of what I describe here, in terms of NH NOT being easily countered as the other team had dust, wards, eye and puzzlebox and it didn't help them one bit. I could use segments of that video to illustrate a lot of the points made in my guide, and some others as reasons why he could've done better with the item build I list.
Also, he didn't seem to be aware that you can pounce siege engines, as I saw him pounce regular creeps in a few instances where siege engines woud've brought him more gold and expirience, thus helping his farm considerably.
I am proud of that display, as the NH pilot is an excelent overall player, and the team was the incarnation of what I describe in the opening paragraphs about NH's role. However, I think that his display can not only be repeated, as it is a pretty standard NH performance with a skilled pilot and a skilled team, but I am 100% certain that his performance can even be improved upon by trying out stuff that I have tested in those 100+ games I've played NH in.
Also, keep in mind that this guide has almost the most views in its forum section, insane amount of positive replies and most of those from people who tried it out and did well with it, 41% NH hero usage and years of DoTA Rikimaru expirience went into creating it and it is linked to plenty of guide pages around. There are resaons for that, I guess(hope I wasn't too immodest, I want people to examine PhB's match with both aprecitation and criticism, because as I've stated in the guide, NH ownage is spectacular like nothing else, but there's a lot to keep in mind and always room for improvement)

lolno
ghost marchers on nighthound is bad.
iron shield isnt really needed either because you have LOL 6.36 starting armour and you stack agi anyways...
I'm not a HUGE fan of Ghost Marchers and here's why:
The speed boost bonus it gives you is while chasing, right? Which means you're gonna be stabbing people in the back, so if you had Steamboots you'd deal +20 due to backstab instead of +24 from Ghost marchers, so the damage difference is pretty small.
Night Hound already has a pounce that makes him chase pretty well. Steamboots can be set also to give him more survivability, and also raise his attack speed. I usually leave them set on Str unless I'm in a gank for most of the early game.

i usually build him differently i buy EP and nullfire and basher. it works really well against almost every hero. i can usually kill anyone inside my smoke in few seconds. try it out![]()
nh is an only-pub hero. no work @ scrims.. rather than mastering nh go master panda or smthng imo
I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree here. NH has two skills that allow him to chase effectively already (smoke bomb and pounce), so I prefer the bonus attack speed to the bonus move speed, especially as it gets into the late game. That being said, if phase boots do it for you, I'm not gonna criticize you a lot for that. I'm still not a fan of phase boots on NH.
