Dominating solo mid/solo sidelane, decent in a trilane, great support for your carry with Guardian + HiH, deaths don't hurt too much... fuctions without items, scales well with items.
Never picked. I don't even think he was given a chance. What gives?

competitive players are good at hon, but they're really, really stupid
he doesn't fit in tri lanes at all and he is a really bad solo compared to some of the other options out there.
and say he actually did decently in a solo lane, his abilities don't really scale well regardless.
I'd bet on martyr against most heroes solo, maybe not slither and plague rider, but anyone else
he's incredibly easy to play in lane too, just harass aggressively and spam Q
his abilities scale perfectly fine--Q is good for a snare, W and E scale with his health, and R is good throughout the game
i think plague could win just by playing back and denying creeps
Martyr is good in all lanes, people don't want to try new things. Nobody can beat him, he can nuke at 100% hp for a slow + some damage auto you 10 times and nuke for +400 again in like 8 seconds or whatever.
Honkhonkbeep is wrong in almost all his numbers, but what hes saying is martyr is great, which I agree with.
He sucks because Accursed is a much better pick.

When Martyr first came out I didn't feel like trying to learn all his moves because they looked really confusing and just lame compared to other new heroes. On top of that it seemed like no one else played him, so I didn't bother giving him a second thought. However one day I randomed Martyr and was forced to play him. After a little bit of practice I found him to be the facking best support hero/semi-carry ever! I love this guy! He's one of my top 5 favorite heroes now and I can't believe I was such a doucher in not playing him sooner. Long range, advantage when he has lower health(surprise your enemy by turning the battle around and draining the schit out of their facking life and slowing them the fack down!). This guy is amazing, all you need is some heavy health regeneration and moderate-heavy mana regen and the rest of the build you can be creative and even build him as a carry if your team needs one. I agree with whoever posted and said that he can solo against anyone except a smart succubus. <--now that's an OP hero that needs to be fixed.
Well, if worst comes to worst - you could always just try to abuse the Martyr Kongor xp "exploit" and give your team 2 lvl5 heroes before the laning starts.
Although now obviously everybody knows about it, so it most likely would not work anymore![]()

It's also somewhat hard to pull.
Anyway, ive been saying martyr is good for a while but no one agrees. I guess we just have to wait until people start to actually pick him. Due to his somewhat item dependent nature / his healing / damage absorption spells he should rarely be put in a trilane.
But he does have two spells that are completely item independent which is his q and r. his r is really strong in laning.
Anyway, probably best in a 212 setup or as a solo
he's a solo (not trilane support), and the only items he needs to be effective are hotbl and maybe an astrolabe
with just those he's ridiculously hard to kill, and has enough health for his E spell to be effective
hes an ok hero just theres just way too many better healing supports. jere, acc, etc
