The brand name of dota as well as more traditional frequent balance patches will probably grab most of the audience from hon. Personally I joined hon because of the enhanced graphics and controls, but now that valve will be releasing a product with the aforementioned qualities, their company resources will let them do things that hon could never really do. For one, increasing the number of servers so there will be less people that play in us servers that don't speak English. Second they have icefrog who is capable of pushing out patches by himself but now has a team behind him. Finally, again they have that main stream brand recognition that lol and hon don't in pulling in new players. I think those of you criticizing the art direction are greatly mistaken. People loved dota back when it just recycled wc3 unit models. Think about the success wow and tf2 have had with their cartoonish art style and tell me valve's choice means dota2 sucks.
I personally don't like Valve's enhancement. Us player who have played HoN even in CBT have got used to Heroes that won't appear in DotA 2. Also, Valve system is too slow to run and is paid. But, I know Blizzard has studied HoN well, and will launch a system to offers a very heavy competition.
well when dota 2 comes out atleast 2/3 of the trolls and 100% of the dotards will be gone.
The ONLY thing I'm looking forward to in dota 2 is custom modes and maps. There are rumors of OMG mode and WTF mode (random heroes with random abilities and free spells/no cool downs respectively), which is awesome. But the dota style MOBA experience has been perfectly delivered to me by HoN. Its just that they promised that hon could be so much more and they haven't delivered. EA and F2P suck sure, but they don't really impact me very much, and I am very comfortable playing HoN. I like its selection of heroes, graphical style, and while its not the BEST INTERFACE IN THE WORLD, I am at least used to it.
TLDR; DotA 2 is only good because of custom modes/maps/servers, HoN is fine for the rest
Your opinion doesn't represent all the players. "Us players who have played even in CVT have got used to heroes that won't appear in DOTA 2". I have never get used to those fail heroes created by $2, let alone liking them. I would much rather play the original DOTA heroes which have better quality, better designs and better balance... $2, gtfo
+1 ROFL Agree
Tired of playing with DotArds who plays 4 carries, don't even know what a courier is and always buy the same items for everyone.
You misunderstood. I meant the opposite, 'cause I've played on Battle.net and honestly I thank S2 for having their servers and engines.
but cyberpunk, you have 1335 mmr...............get a grip will ya
Dota 2 trailer made for 12 year old kids and parents. Only thing epic was fat guy grinching!
Hmm... Heavy weapons guy threw away his minigun and opened up a shop.
Now, which one is more likeable, this heavy knock off with decent voice acting, or a green midget jew who drives you out of his shop by beatboxing?
