i used the search function but didnt find a good explanation.
how does magic armor work?
1 magic armor = 3% magic resistance? (hood does 15 armor and in dota its 30% res?) or does it work differently
It works just like armor works. Each point of magic armor corresponds to an increase in "effective" hp. If it is the same as it was in warcraft III standard then it is 6% effective hp per point of armor.
For example, someone with 16,66 magic armor(it rounds nicely to 100% effective hp assuming it is 6% per point) would take exactly 50% damage from magic spells since his effective hp is doubled.
Basically, the more you get the less % reduction you get per point but this is balanced around the fact that the more % reduction you have the more 1% is worth. It's basically a way of scaling to prevent armor granting complete immunity at high levels.
Disclaimer: My 6% number may be completely off but the basic idea should be correct, each point gives you the same amount of reduction based on your base hp regardless of how much armor you already have.
A wise idea by S2 games amongst many good ideas they had for this game. Magic reduction % formula in Warcraft 3 was kinda tricky to figure out.
Makes me think they could have been more confident and attempt more new stuff instead of relying too much on what worked for DOTA.
I hit a entire team with the - magic armor spell and used the demon summon and the lighting bringer on my team got a 5 kill -.-
because we won 3v5 and that skill needs to be toned down as its insane and way to easy to setup demon stun and hit 2-5 people?
Don't forget this is a team game, if a combo goes like that and gets 5 kills for your "team" good job. Though it was only last game (wannabe) pro's were invading our noob games again
I thought thunderbringer was bugged atm and bypassed magic armour.
