Magebane seems to be quite hard if you are suffering in earlygames as he scales even better than others.
Magebane is the same as most Agi classes. Early game he's hopeless (he can avoid death... and that's about it), Mid game he's occasionally decent, and late game he finally justifies his existence.
How to counter? stay in groups of 2 or more and attack him whenever possible. He can't hang around long with his tiny healthpool (if they tank him up, they won't do enough damage to be worth worrying about anyway).
This space for rent.
This isn't new at all. He could always do this. He's also always been way better than Scout at this; blinking into woods and using a Homecoming Stone >>>>> vanish spam.
The counter to Magebane is to force team fights early to punish him for his pushing and deny his laning farm completely to slow down his gold acceleration.
He's going to be farming/pushing side lanes and blinking to avoid confrontation so unless you have a strong disable that can surprise him (ie Andromeda from the fog, blinking stunner, Bloodhunter silence etc) you probably shouldn't waste time in chasing him unless he's in your base already.
Instead, try to punish his team with early team pushes and force him to give up his push to help defend his base.
A team can 4v5 repel with a tower in a lot of cases but there's a large amount of pressure on his team as well.
Alternatively, you can deny his pressure by using a split push approach (2/1/2 split works well) to keep the lanes moving in your favour and then stoning to defend or moving to gank/reverse ganks.
Magebane is so easy to farm up in pubs because people spend too much time chasing something they can't catch.
He hasn´t changed a lot like Scout did...I played him before the buff and now too and It's the same...yea the aura is good but that doesn´t make him easier to play. Agree with Panda owning magebane... I´ve been stunned and hit to death without been able to blink...I think that Magebane is a different carry...as he is not that good in late game..like Chronos or Madman, or even scout and Darklady

I can counter Mage Bane Carrier with: Electrician with Puzzle Box. Elec use Purge to remove Magic Resist + Disable him + Burn Mana
Magebane without mana = GG!
His mana burn can be really annoying early game depending on who his lane partner is and who you and your partner are. In a dual melee lane with him it can be hell. He's in no way deadly on his own with tower support and him being hella squishy, but he can effectively push you out and deny you last hits. Once again all depending on the skill levels and heroes in the lane.
Get someone to initiate, make him burn his blink, then you catch him where he blinks and kill.
Thanks Desirable!
Silences. Also if hes the only one around the swiftblade's ult will follow him when he blinks.
I managed to snag a magebane last night with swifty's ult a split second before he blinked, and i blinked with him and it was a 1 button kill.
He raged, but didn't quit.
Blood Hunter owns magebane.
Put your ultimate on him just as he's about to blink, and he will insta-kill himself when he does.
???? At which level?
After level 11 bh's ulti is totally useless against magebane...
He must blink on trees, and wait... Bye bye bh.
I play magebane/antimage for 3 years in Dota and the heroes that i fear are rhasta, bane and behemoth/hearthShaker. Every other hero is simple to avoid with little attention.
I find that only moon queen owns him late game and maybe chronos. But his blink is just too good late game in well balanced matches. He can provide great map control and battle arrangements. A vanguard is usually sufficient enough to make him a great tank until BKB, and Satanic after he completed his IMBA attack build...
