I was Pyro a few matches back, I went for my level 6 combo on Valk, and just as I ulted for the kill she leaped, the ult animation went off and she took no damage.
So my question, is this intentional? I know that a target can go out of range but the spell went off, animation took place, and it went to cool down afterwards but she took zero damage from the ult. I was under the impression that valks leap left her vulnerable at the spot she initiated the leap from until the leap was complete. Just not sure if this is a glitch or S2 wants it this way.
Thanks.
Intentional, Leaps/Blinks have what is known as a Disjoint attached to them, which causes projectiles to stop following, this allows you to avoid spells if timed correctly.
You should not be able to leap away from pyro's ulti IMO. it's an ultimate for a reason.
AzureFlames somethings like Pyro ulti should hit like in dota they made leap not detach and u get hit in mid leap or where u land regardless of where u land
Pyro's ultimate is actually so fast i doubt any human could leap/blink from it midflight, however the Valk player no doubt expected you to throw it and Leaped before you used ultimate so it was your mistake.
Well it was my mistake for not knowing about disjoint in Hon, I attacked once after stun because it is usually the best way to max damage. In the future I will know not to with leapers/blinkers.
Well if your fast enough you can fire your ultimate off whilst their still stunned.
I like leap against scout, turns off the targetting before he can even fire.
Valk's leap USED to leave her vulnerable at her leap initiation area, but I think that got fixed.
Why cast it before he even gets it off? Leap after he casts it.. That way his ulti will be in cd for a bit while you receive no damage. Course don't spam it for the sake of avoiding just scout's ulti. There are much scarier things you should be evading such as what the OP mentioned, a stun (as opposed to just a slow from Marksmanship) or saving it to leap over obstacles.
the brief invulnerability period was removed from potm's leap in dota a while back for balance reasons, so I'd assume this just an oversight by s2 when they fixed all targeting scheme on the "projectile unit movement" spells in the last patch
Lol. I dout the Valk would've have been that smart to time something like a Pyro's ult to the point where he knew it was going to miss. All luck based on the initiative of hope. Rethink mistake, as its no mistake. This should not be overseen as it can be a game breaker. S2 should fix.

This was a result of Leap being based off Windwalk in DotA.
Shortly put it's a feature that PotM/Valkyrie does NOT need.
Sun strike has a speed of 2000, with a 600 cast range. It will reach you in 0.3 seconds, compared to dota's 0.25 second chainlightning.

The only semi valid argument is that in dota leap doesnt disjoint
other than that its intended
Dota leap provides a 0.01 second windwalk that can act as a disjoint if your enemy has no truesight.
