The Epoch Project is a new training clan created by the Training Grounds team (Tripwyr, Ryan, and Visions) in association with [S2]Feanux. The Epoch Project intends to accommodate a range of players, from those with zero MOBA experience, to users seemingly stuck in their MMR range looking to improve.
To explain why LN was not chosen for this project, I must first explain the past month or so behind the scenes of the Training Grounds. As some regular users of this forum may have noticed, DenyTheTruth has stepped down as leader of both LN and the Training Grounds, leaving me to replace him. While both Deny and I shared a similar philosophy, we've gone about it in different ways.Initially we had planned to revamp LN and mold it to our new ideals, but as time went on we began to realize that major infrastructure changes on such a large clan would be impossible. It is for this reason we've decided to kick off a new era in the Training Grounds with a brand new clan, The Epoch Project.
The Epoch Project will be enforcing a new set of rules, previously unenforced by LN. First, we will only accommodate players who aim to either learn, or teach. There will be routine inactivity sweeps to ensure that each member of the community is actively learning or teaching. Unfortunately, this means that players who wish to remain in the clan after training will be required to apply for mentorship or leave the clan. Players who display exceptional membership qualities may be excluded from this rule.Aiming for a larger clan, we will be placing mentors and trainees into individual PSR/MMR brackets. This helps to ensure that all training sessions are constructive for their participants. To ensure quality in teaching, all mentors will pass through additional screening. This will help us to distinguish ourselves as the official and premier clan of the Training Grounds forum. Senior Mentors and Officers will be selected from members who have shown exemplary leadership and reliability in their time with us.
In order to ensure quality, this clan will adopt a zero tolerance policy for smurfing and trolling. Any player who joins the clan intending to disrupt it's operations will be punished under the Report a Player system, courtesy of [S2]Feanux. While we understand you may sometimes get frustrated, we will be maintaining records of any disruptive behavior within the clan. Those who prove themselves to be unable to maintain a positive behavior will be removed from the clan, or in extreme cases, receive in-game disciplinary action.

Trainee
As the primary purpose of The Epoch Project's existence, Trainees are those players who wish to learn or improve their play. Most members will fall into this rank.
Senior Member
Trainees or Mentors who have retired from their roles. These are players who have demonstrated exceptional membership behavoir, and have remained honorary clan members. These players have no active role within the clan.
Mentors
The driving force behind the clan; mentors are those players who desire to share their knowledge and improve the community. All mentors will undergo a screening and training process before being introduced into a group.
Officers
Officers are the clan's quality control. Officers will enforce the rules, resolve disputes, organize tournaments and special events, in addition to miscellaneous behind the scenes tasks. Officers may also take on the mentorship role.
Administrators
The leadership behind the clan. Administrators include: Tripwyr (Clan leader), Feanux (S2 representative), DenyTheTruth (Lead Officer and Advisor), iGuy (Lead Officer and GM Liaison), and Yukari (Lead Officer and GM Liaison).
Epoch currently has several learning initiatives in place, including Learnhouses, Training Workshops, friendly Inhouses, and a consistent mentor presence. All of these tools are provided to make training easier and more intuitive for the player.
Learnhouses
Learnhouses are organized matches in which one or more mentors will observe the game, and provide extensive feedback on individual performance as well as improvement advice. All previous learnhouses are archived so that players may view previously given feedback or gauge their own improvement over time.
Training Workshops
Training Workshops are individually organized mentoring opportunities offered by numerous mentors through the Epoch Project. These mentors will often provide individualized training and personalized feedback to those interested in a more one on one experience.
Inhouses
Inhouses are friendly matches played in accordance with the Epoch Project's Code of Conduct. This ensures matches contain no smurfing, trolling, flaming, or in appropriate behavior. Should this behavior be experienced, it should be reported to an officer as soon as possible.
Mentor Presence
Our staff of knowledgeable and experienced mentors ensures that any time you have a question, somebody will be there to answer it.
The smaller group size utilized by this clan allows easier team-building, communication and growth in a familiar environment. Additionally, it allows the mentors to more easy monitor trainee improvement, and provide feedback accordingly.
Likewise, trainees will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the officers and administrators regarding the performance of their mentors. This ensures that mentor quality remains high, and ensures the trainee's optimal experience is maintained. It also allows us to optimally allocate our human resources, and catch problem users early.A thank you goes out to Avunaos and Sye for their outstanding work on the graphic elements of this post.Any breach to this code of conduct will result in a warning, expulsion from Epoch, or in-game disciplinary action. Should you witness a breach of the code of conduct, please notify an officer or admin.Sign up to the Epoch Project today

You can't hate on DivA's guides without at least giving a shout out to Nome's monsters. Does this group have mentors that teach a specific hero really well? Or is it only for roles?
If you left the clan and wish to re-enter should you just reapply on the website and go through the process again? I don't know why I had left the clan as I do not recall clicking on leave clan.
Thanks.
hey can any1 help me out. im a bit confused bout this whole system. i have filled out the application sheet to be a trainee then got an automated email saying
'Thanks for registering at Project Epoch Forums! We are glad you have chosen to be a part of our community and we hope you enjoy your stay.'
Now im a bit confused as to what im supposed to do now. do i wait for them to send me an email about a mentor or should i be doing something.
(i have left my clan already)
Hello,
After filling out your application, just go in-game and hang out in the Epoch Invite channel (just type in ./join epoch invite without the period). You'll either find me or another officer there looking to review your app and then sending you a clan invite if it clears. :3
To sign up for a mentor, you either just ask around in the main Epoch channel or just browse through them on our forums (feel free to sign up with one as you wait to get invited in, our mentors are often happy to take non-clan members under their wing, especially ones just waiting for an invite in). ^^

This clan is for new people and who want to learn some heroes .
Or lanning
Great clan! GO E
TAUNT LIKE A LEGO!
I was just wondering if you guys are still active? Since I am tired of continually being to blame when I have no clue as to what the jargon for this game is...I am fairly new(not to the genre, but Ive never really been good at this, since I always get cursed out for asking for help) I just was wondering if I could get some tutoring and get some constructive criticism on my flaws...And jw, but do you guys organize matches to help trainees learn specific problem heroes? If not its ok, but that would be cool. Thanks you, I love the idea btw :3

Epoch is focused on learning, but while playing you can do things that make your team more likely to lose but that cause you to learn more.
For example, you could be an 1800+ player who never solos mid yet who's interested in learning how to do this in a controlled environment. You picking mid when you're not experienced might cause your team to lose.
Or, if your experience is with hard carries and you're interested in learning to play roaming gankers, your inexperience with these other roles means you won't look at the map the same way, you won't take in details that gankers need to take in, and you won't manage your farm correctly tending to either gank too much or farm too much.
Or, you might be experienced with hard-carry trilanes only and have no idea how to play any other setup. Trying to play any other setup will likely lose you the game because you'll be overrated and inexperienced.
How does Epoch handle players who aren't trying their best to win, in this manner? Some people might be frustrated that you're doing something like this, "causing their team to lose."
The above examples might be obviously allowed, but on the other extreme is picking Scout every game and rushing Codex. It's possible to learn how to get better at Codex Scout, and it's possible to play in a non-trolling way. Yet doing this might get some people *very* frustrated.
The middle-of-the-road example would be something like a War beast + Wildsoul push strategy, or other off-the-wall tactics you're interested in training for. Does Epoch discriminate against unpopular tactics, or classify them as "trolling" even if the intention was to learn? How do you manage players' frustration with anything that isn't written in Diva's default hero guide?

While I am a fan of "uncommon" strategies, I think it's best to teach the trainees of things that they need to know before allowing them to run shaky strategies, sort of like mastering walking before attempting to run.
P.S. Please don't follow Diva's guides.
The first post mentioned groups would be split based on the PSR range. There was nothing in the first post that mentioned discrimination against 1800 trainees belonging to their own private group, and these people wouldn't need to master walking.
While they could train traditional strategies, it seems like that's more "playing to win" rather than "playing to learn."
Diva's guides are the highest rated guides, voted the best by the HoN community. Who are you to disagree with a guide that has near 100% agreement from the HoN community for being a great guide?P.S. Please don't follow Diva's guides.![]()
