    situations for items. question

so. we all know, that lots of items are situational and mostly not "for hero" but "against hero" (like nullstone against devo/dw/etc)
i'm interesting, what is situations for next items:

nome's wisdom. which heroes and when should rush it. (imo there are alwasy better items for any hero, so need to be clarified)

shieldbreaker. my last experience shows, that if you want to reduce armor - harkon is you choice

Insanitarius. once was my favorite item, but... looks like better to get something else.

    so. what am i missing?

you get :NomesWisdom: for any hero who needs a somewhat bigger mana pool than they are working with and also need the mana regen (the mana regen is a ton). best for int support because they get +damage from the +int. easy build up from :RingOfTheTeacher: as well. main grabbers of nomes: , but really most ints can benefit a lot from it. you just don't need more than one on the team though.

in general it's just the logical upgrade to :RingOfTheTeacher: for ints, but it's also decent on other heroes like who benefit from having that larger mana pool along with enough regen to take care of their mana needs for the rest of the game.

:Shieldbreaker: - item kinda sucks tbh but it's good when you have more than one physical DPS, one hero will pick this up to lower extra armor so his team benefits from it. aemonicBreastplate first is always a better choice imo unless someone else is already getting it on your team.

:Insanitarius: is great if you're a strength and have lifesteal and magic immunity, as you won't take any damage from it while immune and the lifesteal replenishes the health you're losing from it as well. coincidentally, pred has both of these innately, and maliken is ranged and has both lifesteal and shrunken in his core. it can work well on other strength's when picking up :ShrunkenHead: :WhisperingHelm: as well, but that's a lot of farm on a melee, and most of the time again aemonicBreastplate is probably a higher priority/better pickup for the team instead of insanitarius imo.

i've heard good things about it on chronos, but i honestly haven't tried it personally. can work on agi ranges with :ShrunkenHead: :SymbolOfRage: as well, but it's more for the lulz when doing it because farm is just better spent elsewhere since they don't get extra damage from the strength, and are just a really meaty tank with that build. corrupted can do pretty well with it (i do :ShrunkenHead::ElderParasite::Insanitarius: on flint and corrupted sometimes lol).

other items, i don't know.. i like :Stormspirit: on heroes that pick up :Portalkey: sometimes just as an added escape mechanism, along with a pseudo disable.

:Puzzlebox: i could write shittons on the uses of this but i'm lazy. push power, anti aoe shitstorm, movement speed buff, counterward invis detection, mana drain, etc.

:NullfireBlade: rapes melees with low mana pools, and counters jera, tdl, accursed, hellbringer, blah.

:Hellflower: long range silence, great for vs. blink heroes who don't have a nullstone for some reason. even if they do then you burn the nullstone then use it. also makes casters useless for the duration silence, and stops items like shrunken from being used on carries so your team can focus them down more quickly.

:TabletOfCommand: huge fan of this, use it on like EVERY hero lately lol, just has so many positioning uses and saving teammates etc. counters pharoah, kraken ult, channeling spells, escape mech, tree eye killer, somewhat chronos ult, etc. if your hero is remotely dependant on good positioning, and you need a bigger mana pool, i'd rush this, it's so good.

:HarkonsBlade: enemy team has over 9000 armor later in the game? this is the answer.

:Wingbow: take it vs. physical DPS carries who don't have savage mace. otherwise forget it, buy something more useful lawl.

:PlatedGreaves: need armor earlier? man up, grab this along with :RingOfTheTeacher:. don't be dense, it's more useful than :Steamboots: for survivability vs. physical based heroes like etc. add in :Astrolabe: along with that and you can just laugh at those heroes, while your push power is also enhanced by A LOT.

    bored.

:ShamansHeaddress: and :BarrierIdol: If you are a beefier hero ( ) and you need to survive against magic teams, pick these up.

:Brutalizer: It always sounds like an awesome item to have. The build up now has better stats. But it's only kinda useful on a few heroes, come to mind. There are better options. NEVER PICK UP AS YOUR FIRST MAIN ITEM.

:VoidTalisman: Hard carries getting beefy? Get this. Time it s use carefully though at it does reduce magic armor.

:StaffOfTheMaster: Most of the heroes that can use this, shouldn't. Few exceptions: can make exceptional use. can if they are wrecking early (in VJ's case, more of a pub build as you should probably get wards)

:AbyssalSkull: Melee only* and not as often as you think. and can make exceptional use with their minions. Some melee carries can get it if they want lifesteal and slow.

    * can make use to boost her minions. If someone says "HURR you're range why did you buy Abyssal Skull, noob?" just ignore them.

Abyssal Skull on Ophelia is a classic case of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should". If you're only getting it to beef your minions up it's easily outclassed by more versatile item pickups. There certainly are situations where it could be very good but Ring of the Teacher is amazing as it is.

Fair point. Though, you can also use it to buff your melee carry and free an inventory slot for him/her. It's still not a bad pick up on Ophelia.

Harkons is "better" than shieldbreaker only in certain cases. A lot of the times that SB is picked up, it's because -armor doesn't just effectively increase your damage but it's also because it synergizes with one of your skills (Carnivorous is a perfect example). Harkons helps less than SB in this case because even if you hit harder with autoattacks, there is less synergy with skill. In the end, you could be doing more damage with SB because of skill synergy.

:Codex::If you're at it is a viable pick if you are getting a crazy ton of farm/kills
:BarrierIdol::its always a good pick when the enemy team have high aoe damage heroes like
:ShrunkenHead:: almost always needed. Can let you run kinda free(exept if the enemy team have heroes like that can lock you down while you are in the immunity status.
    :Nullstone::
Good against heroes that have single target strong spells like and other ones like (ults)
:AlchemistBones:: Can be a very nice pick on carries if you are getting a lot of free farm early on in the game
:Puzzlebox:: very good against teams that have heroes like and also can be always good with heroes like cuz they can just burst you mana down while they lock you down(tundra cold shoulder+puzzle+couerl=rape.)

Shieldbreaker: i dont like shieldbreaker at all,but it can be good on pestilence,soulstealer,pandamonium...

Harkons: Very nice "last item" as DR. repulsor. Can be also be a good pick as pupet master...

Insanitarius on Panda/Gauntlet/Rampage, maybe keeper as well. Gives a ton of different stats then when you have steamboots/Ghost Marchers you pop insanitarius and are hitting for 200+ at 15 minutes in. I like it on the first 3 and get it regularly. Activate it before panda ult and flurry, on gaunt after you drop your abilities to punish them and keep cripple up and on rampage because you hit like a ****ing monster, especially with the bash.
