After many years I finally bite the bullet and bought a PS3 and I must say its the best investment I ever made apart from HON.
Guess I saw the new mortal kombat remake and Dead Nation and that just made me buy it.
You guys have any advice for me what to get? looking for games that are not available on PC. But like really good ones such as Dead nation just love those types of games/
Will defenitely have to sell my GTX 460 now to recover some of this money.
Thank god HON runs on any cheap video card even my onboard HD3200

I heard of Red dead I will get it especially since its so cheap on Amazon..
I like this about consoles, disk games are so cheap on Amazon compared to over priced steam where everything still sells for the full price.
And also you can resell your PS3 games you cannot resell PC games anymore.

Burn Zombie Burn,Zombie Apocalypse,Silent hill,resident evil ( your type ).
I dont own a ps3 however some friends told me those games i listed are good
Also if you like some rgp type get some dragon age origins,awakening and Dragon age 2.

why would it be nearing end of life? Sony has only recently started to make a profit since the sell the console at a loss. it took them years to make a dollar off it.
they introduced the move controler thing and MS released kinect thing these are to extend the life of the console.
How many people buy new consoles? very few cause its expensive as hell.
Why would any company in their right mind abandon this platform? The graphics are very good and everyone can now afford a console.
Seeing that Sony Supported the PS2 for more than a decade I would think that right now is the best time to buy a PS3.
Especially since they have now tapped into the full power of the PS3.
I hope PSN is back up soon as I will never buy an XBOX and pay to play online when its free on the PC and PS3.

How long do these games remain popular for? I mean my experience with dawn of war 2 is that not all games are played much online and they become dead quite soon.

Killzone3 and Motorstorm (3) Motorstorm is an absolute blast to play.

Dead Nation on PSN is AMAZING. If you haven't already gotten it (which you may have based on the first post), pick it up.
Other recommendations:
- Portal 2 (buying the PS3 version also gives you the PC version)
- LittleBigPlanet 1/2
- Uncharted 1/2
- Killzone 2/3
- Batman: Arkham Asylum (seriously a fantastic game, batman for a mature player-base)
- Metal Gear Solid 4 (it's like a movie, but a fantastic one with fantastic gameplay in between cut-scenes -- if you're the type of gamer to skip cutscenes regardless, skip this one)
- GTA 4 (if you haven't already played it)
- Red Dead Redemption
- Any and all of the God of War games
- Demon Souls if you like RPGs and won't mind being frustrated out of your mind
- Any and all of the Devil May Cry games
- Bayonetta (Devil May Cry but with boobs... need I say more?)
- Valkyria Chronicles (turn-based action-RPG, if that makes any sense)
- Heavy Rain (a movie in game form, not for the impatient)
- Resident Evil 5 (not great, but one to play if you enjoyed RE4)

I dont have a PS3 (I want 1 tho) but I played marvel vs capcom3 with my friend and it was really cool, not used to online mode tho
any game that you use SOE so you can lose your credit card
Heavy Rain is a must play PS3 exclusive.
