I remember hearing before they changed alch bones that they paid for themselves in 30 mins or something (if you used every charge as you acquired it). Now since they changed it I was wondering at what point in the game getting alch bones is worthwhile. Is it if you can get it before the 10 min mark? 15?
Thanks![]()
You basically should try getting it before 10minutes...since it'll pay around +-180-250gold(not sure) per charge each one = 100seconds (1.4minutes).
So...in around 14minutes it'll pay itself?
100(s) x 180~250 you'll need around 7-9 charges..
Not sure..i usually just got it on semi carries if i made it before 10minutes mark...
Don't go by me serious...:/

If it pays for itself in 14 mins it might still be viable as a 2nd item at the 20 min mark. Situational ofc...
it might pay for itself, but it does nothing to enhance your survivability for those 14 mins, effectively lowering its value because you actually increase your risk of being killed in a gank or group battle.
You're only really paying for the 900 gold recipe... the 30 atk spd is good.
Since you can get 200-300 per transmute, it pays for itself in about 5-7 minutes.
since the charge change, to me its a pretty solid item when gotten early enough for heroes that dont have mana to spam spells to farm or some sort of cleave. this gives those heroes 300+ gpm easily
Can anyone give any recommendations on which heroes should get this?
Personal experience - if you're able to rush it right after your inital equip it's autowin on carry.
Notice that one big advantage of this item is the burst of gold you can get.
If you're slowly saving and farming for soemthing, you're always in danger to be ganked etc. but with this you can get bigger items relatively fast lowering the risk of losing gold.
Other heroes it's pretty good on are,:chro: and
.
Most other heroes suffer a too much from not having a bigger item early on since you're building Alchi Bones.
EDIT: Oh right, I totaly forgot about Wildsoul, yeah it's good for him too.

Ok. So if you leave a game, you are sent an AIDS needle. Additionally, you get +1 disconnect AND are forced to play as Kongor next game. You can't leave his lair, except when a rune spawns. You must run directly to the rune (still as Kongor) and guard it. If you do not do this, then HoN immediately shuts down and formats your hard drive and injects you with the AIDS needle.
heroes that should get alch bones are, :chro: situationly,

Tralfamadore got alch bones against EG in the Honor tournament finals, worked really well for him. I know that what pros do and what others should do are not necessarily the same thing but there must be other heroes that benefit greatly from alch bones (situationally), Aluna f.ex.
Pretty much every carry in the game can go alch bones if they're planning to just rice for 40 minutes.
any hero that aims to carry late and benefits from IAS it's good oncarry
and I love it on- the early game mana burn is so good with the +30 AS from bones and +25 AS from steams and unless ur team is getting obliterated it's HARD to not hit 400 gpm with him by 30ish mins... I get around 500 gpm by 30 mins probably half the time
it's also decent/situational on :chro:![]()
