A while back I made this page to help view items when not in game. It then became outdated, but then was recently updated by Spazzdude so I wanted to share it with the community again. The limitation of the current item browser on the HoN site is that you must do a lot of clicking, and only a brief description is displayed.
This was originally created after seeing some of the other posts from Hucklecat (List of Items) and Limi (HoN shops with DotA icons), but this builds a bit upon this by providing in game icons, in game item descriptions, in game shop layout, DotA names, and complete component/price list. This 1.46 update has all the latest items, prices and descriptions.

Very nice, thanks for this! I was thinking of making my own version as a side-project for my Flex course but this saves me a lot of effort
Something I might suggest, if you have the time and experience, is allowing visitors to create item builds and giving them a break-down of cost required as well as prerequisite items. If you want to make it really comprehensive, add a cost:time calculator for how long it might take to obtain the items at a certain rate, or in a given time (say 30min) how much you need to earn per minute to get the items...
It's not quite exactly what you're suggesting, but the pieces are all there to get what you want: http://www.hondb.com/?calc
For example, here's a Pebbles build. (I really need to shorten those url's..)
It shows you the total cost of all the items, and the tooltip for each item shows how much the whole thing costs on its own. Then, you can look at each item (http://www.hondb.com/?item=ring-of-sorcery for example) on http://www.hondb.com/?items=all to see everything each item takes to create. Typing this, I realized it should really be possible to go to the item page from the calculator, so I'll be taking care of that soonly..
Hey kittens your barrier idol recipe shows both ways to make a shamans headress and it throws off the total gold cost for the item.
Page has been updated to include the latest patch info.
