I cant point you to replays cause Krakens are very rare here. I love playing him, have alt avatar for him.
For items, imo, core are ghosts - hotbl - demonic breast. If you finish that you can build whatever you want next if game gets long and you have gold.
Skills, I take 2 lvl in torrent, 1 in charge and 2 in splash at lvl 5. Ult whenever i can, than maxing splash.
I only read some guides when start playing him. And he's great hero. If you can finsih just marchers and hotbl youre good just with that.

Steams are not bad. That or marchers, depends on player. But I prefer mobility and damage more less.

i mostly build a shamans headdress over hotbl, because nowadays you're facing tons of magic damage at all stages in the game. also a portal key is a really nice pickup after upgrading your boots. if your farm is bad, throw in a barbed armor for maximum cost effectiveness.
Hrm, so tanky Kraken is more effective than the Breastplate semi-carry Kraken? I don't see him being much of a threat minus his ult if he doesn't do enough damage otherwise. His other stun is unreliable and I think the slow on his Q is a bit too little. I might be VERY wrong though, I'm kinda new to this game. I will give the headdress a go though.
PK for kraken is not really necessary. He shouldn't initate with his ult since it dont have big area. Let battle start than ult all of them. PK for magmus or keeper is probably must, but not for kraken.
With hotb and breasts you have damage, survivability and nice aura.
