Stick with the off-topic forums. That's what I do for the most part. Some good topics. Although I go back to the normal forums when there's something worth discussing.

Good decision imo. I wish I had done the same thing years ago when I used to play WoW around 80 hours a week.

I think once you become addicted to a game and realize you have a problem then you sort of become immune to future game addictions. I played WoW for like 2 years nonstop from '06 to '08 and since then I've stopped giving a crap about games but I still play em because sometimes I have nothing better to do. Once I get into college I'm stopping for good though...besides, the last thing I'd wanna do while in NYC is be at home playing games all day

OP, theirs no reason why you can't just limit the time you play.
Do me a favor and do this: Stop playing for exactly 1 week. Then play EXACTLY 2 games and quit right after, get into a cycle of only playing a game or two every day or so.

Thats how I do it, and it works quite well and I used to play ALOT in college. You just have to have willpower. Plus once you start working and having a normal job and come back home, HoN will not be the first thing on your mind, and that way you can just play a few games every now an again.

You'll do better if you leave your religion, IMO.
    I suppose you are christian.

You should get rid of that hypocritical Self-deceit, do not pay homage to any of the sacred cows they presented to you... There is undefiled wisdom waiting for you.
Almost every of those so-called sins lead to physical, mental, or
emotional gratification, so why avoid them? God won't help you, you are either broken or the breaker, giver or the undertaker. The keys are in YOUR hands. Realize you are your own sole creator.

Anyway, this is just my opinion. I'm trying to help you.

For some reason when I used to play dota/HoN I had a quota system where I would stop after x number of wins/day.

I've always used quotas for most things in life as I find them applicable.

Then I realized I didn't even enjoy the game anymore, so why subjugate myself to something I didn't want to play?

As my schedule opens up quite a bit after next Monday I told myself I would start playing HoN again, just enough that I could get back in HoN-shape with a simple quota of 1 win/day. Then I realized I value my time too much to waste it on something I don't enjoy.

yea. HoN is really an extreme game in this sense. A win is, I will admit, extremely satisfying. A loss, especially due to lag/bad teammates (the last time I played I had an allied Gauntlet who would grapple me to my death/so I missed a kill) is usually a waste of time unless the game was close.

Why play something if you get pissed off afterwards? It really makes no sense at all. I don't expect people to be pros. I do expect people to not be retarded with no common sense though. That's the only reason I ever rage in HoN.

FPS games (I'm playing Cod4 again) are flexible. No one cares if you leave and join another game. Ure never pissed off afterwards. You have honest fun and the sportsmanship is honestly much higher than HoN. Which is really, really sad. I've done my share of work in the CoD forums and I wouldn't even hesitate to say that the people there are much smarter and good sports overall than the people the HoN forums.

People that don't believe in themselves need something to believe in. Always easier to pray to a deity then face up to the facts :P

Right cause you can also believe that the earth is 6k years old AND believe in evolution, that makes sense.
