Mana batteried Pharoah - most annoying early harass?

I just played a game where I randomed as Madman and had to lane against a Glacius Pharoah combo.

I mean it's by no means a "good" combo. There's no real danger to it unless you're dumb enough to run in at a point where a rocket/slow/imprisonment/ministun/creep aggro can actually kill you off. Certainly nothing compared to, say, a dual stun, or dual ranged harass, etc. etc.

    Just incredibly annoying.

Of course, I'm Madman, so they don't even bother with my lane partner (Pestilence). Glacius must have rushed aura, because Pharoah did not stop spamming. Every cd, I could guarantee a missile was fired at my vicinity. And if by chance he spammed so hard that aura wasn't enough, they had Ring of the Teacher and he packed Clarities.

I did get Shield and 3 Wraith Bands and subsequently had my way with Glacius (stun his ulti and activate your own = gg), but any ideas how to better negate this stupidity? More regen? Going Bracers? I guess easiest way is just to call gank, but I didn't feel it was necessary to deprive Soulstealer of precious farm time.

    Duh, more regen.

Get a battery, thank him for the mana and count yourself lucky that he didn't level Hellfire!

idk, maybe a Lifetube would help things. You can always build it into a Runed Axe, which pretty much everybody seems to do.

    it's like a 15 second cooldown with a 50 mana cost.

    Really?

    idk

Maybe I'm stubborn but I didn't feel like spending the gold just to be battered around more by them. If I wasn't in lane then I wasn't getting spammed.

Sure I had to go fountain, but it's a fast trip for Madman. Pestilence stays in lane and gets solo exp, so no loss there. I guess it's kind of a tossup.

    Regen
    --> Stay in lane longer
--> More exp, maybe more lasthits (tbh I was just getting frozen and chilled every time i went in for a lasthit)
--> Could've spent gold on items

    Fountain
--> Missile is splash, so if I back then at least missile is only hitting Pesti (and vice-versa if he had to b)
    --> Less exp
--> Spend my gold on early core items
--> Pesti gets solo exp when I'm gone

The dillema is whether or not spending the gold on regen and staying in lane speeds up or delays my core items. The exp is pretty much a non-issue, as if I'm not getting it then my partner would be.

You're probably right though - if my staying in lane affords more lasthits and denies, it's probably advantageous to stay. Two lasthits = 1 tree.

Yeah, I was considering getting Lifetube. I don't like Runed Axe on Madman (or anybody else except stacked 4x on Jereziah), but the lane survivability Lifetube affords is very tempting, even if I'm playing a hero who shouldn't get it.

Battery seems like the best choice, especially with both of them spamming like hell on everything.

True, but like I said, if Brilliance wasn't enough, Ring aura + Clarities would be.

Stalk and Barrel Roll are enough to farm creepwaves - so why spend all that money on Cleave? It has little utility in a teamfight, unless you have someone like Tempest on your team and you can cleave their entire side with Berserk for massive damage - but even then heroes like Maliken and Jereziah far outclass your ability to dish AoE damage - I don't even have to mention Hammerstorm and the sheer annihilation he can deliver in a Black Hole.

The only use I have for a Runed Axe is the Sustainer, providing early game lane survivability and much-needed mana regen. And even then I'd sooner go Bloodstone with it then Runed Axe.

Last hit using Stalk, be aggressive now and then if Stalk harasses them and gets them low, buy lots of regen if you can, else just run back to fountain often using Stalk.

Pharao + Glacius vs Madman + Pesti = ownage for you.

    Just play aggressive.
Pesti with speed-buff + stun and your barrel-roll almost kills a lvl 3 glacius no probs.

You stalk and barrel roll both + pesti engaging glacius and stuns him.
Both of you pawn ehm hard.
Same with early pharao. But i would focus glacius cause he has lower hp and a disable if you focus pharao.

If you play legion bot or hellbourne top, then use ability of creep-pulling so you pharao only hits one of you with his aoe-rocket.

What kind of retarded Pharaoh goes rocket over hellfire.

Be happy he's not dominating your team mid game.

Madman was in his lane therefore harassing to keep him underfarmed is a viable strat

In the future consider looking at other strats besides just the single one you use

Lich+Demented Shaman is unbeatable in terms of being able to drive you out of your lane.

Swift+Elec can always kill you, of course
    tl;dr

Pushing the lane won't drive the enemy out of it, instead what will happen is they'll pick up every last hit and deny because they're sitting pretty next to their tower, and after a while the tower will be denied.

ya pretty much mana battery then lifetube. make sure glacius never casts on you via your invisibility.

i rarely ever max rocket on pharoah as he can dominate easily at 7.
i only max it if the team has alot of escapes aka hard to kill or just dangerous to gank (jere, etc). then i would max rocket first to harass my lane and other lanes alot easier.

I think your problem begain when you put a dual melee carry lane against ... stuff that wasn't a dual melee carry lane.

What the hell did you expect? You'd have got screwed vs almost anything decent.

This. Putting Pestilence and Madman in the same lane is a bad idea.

Except Pest + Madman should have farmed the other two over and over. But I'd venture a guess and say the Pest was typical bad kind that goes Gore over Flight.
