    Bring DM (Death Match) to HoN!

    Death Match Mode

    The old and classic DM mode from DotA.

    If you didn't play DoTA, Death Match mode is a mode when you will received a new hero every time you died (Depending if AR, then randomly receive, if AP, choose again) with all of your items transferred to the new hero at the current level of whatever your hero was.

    The game will either end when the Tree of Life or the Sacrificial Shrine is destroyed, or when your team has run out of heroes. A dead hero can never be picked again.


    I guess that's everything. It's such an awesome mode. You have to have it a submode, where it's APDM or ARDM.

    The Loading Problem:


    At the moment, I'm in a discussion in the Mechanics forum over the changes this would create (HoN only loads ten heroes usually, this would expect the game to load all 77.)

    TL;DR: DoTA loads all 77 heroes at once and it doesn't take too long to do so. Therefore, it IS possible. However, HoN has more details, code, and a better engine, therefore it could be much harder for a computer to handle 77 HoN heroes versus 77 DoTA heroes. If only loading a first 10 heroes, then the game would have to spawn heroes as it goes, which should cause lag. However, practice mode only causes a small "jump" at first when spawning a new hero. Would the same not hold true for -DM?
    TL;DR x2: Practice mode makes DM seem pretty possible, but there's still questions.

    I think S2 will never port something from DotA since Valve bought the rights for DotA 2... And that is the reason why Furion is not in HoN.

    Though it is a fun game mode, it'd be hard to impliment into HoN. When you load into DotA, you load all the heroes, where as when you load into your game (after the picking screen) you only load the 10 heroes being played, loading all 77 would take a while.

    This is a mode, you could say they got it from Quake or something. Secondly, it was created before Valve bought the rights, so S2 can take it.

    Its cool mode, but it think it will have large impact on performance cus game preloads assets of each hero at start. Maybe im talking bollox, so someone correct me if im wrong.
