    Flaggelation + Logger's Hatchet

    Hey community,

Quick question... Logger's hatchet only works on creeps, but how does this item work with Gladiator's Flagellation.

Flagellation (unless im mistaken) works such as glad does regular damage to a unit, then that same damage gets splashed as true damage in an AoE.

So my question is, if glad attacks a creep while he has a hatchet, does the 32% bonus damage from the hatchet get spread as true damage, even against enemy heroes?

If so, it may be worth keeping a hatchet around in the late game, and just attacking a creep, and splashing the enemies with the true damage (using shroud/riftshards, etc)

    Thoughts?

    bump? anyone know?

In DotA, Kunkka can't even carry a hatchet. In HoN, I'm fairly certain that it's coded not to take hatchet into account when calculating the flagellation damage.

Gladiators whip deals physical damage to the main target and unmigated true damage in the aoe.

For example: you have 250 damage, the main target has 50% armor reduction. The main target will take 125 damage, and all targets in the aoe will take 250 damage.

So the logger's hatchet works on the main target, but not in the aoe.

Is this correct... Can you prove it?

I know everything else was spot on but that seems fuzzy for me.. and I'm a bit hung over. =/

Edit: forgot I was in Mechanics =)

I can't offer evidence/proof but I'm pretty sure one of the mechanics moderators answered this a while ago and the hatchet will not affect the whip aoe, just the main target

It won't affect the affector damage.

The easiest way I can prove it is by modifying the ability.entity to print the damage that is actually done and compare it to the damage done to the main target by making it print the damage done on the main target as well.

But too much work since I have to screenshot + upload it for you, so it's much easier to just ask you to believe me.

If you REALLY REALLY want proof, PM me and tell me why you really need to know and maybe I'll do it, but it's such a trivial thing.

To make it simple you could focus on the fact that hatchet only increases attack damage and that gladiators whip damage is caused by an affector and not by his actual attack.

the hatchet does take into account the bonus damage on the creep you are hitting though i believe, so that 60 bonus damage is ~80 versus the creep, and denying doesn't use up the whip proc so you can deny like crazy

I was referring to the hatchet damage being applied to the main target, not the affector. I would of tested it myself but I wasn't at home at the time. (Edit: just tested it myself)

But yeah for clarification purposes, hatchet does work on the main target.

    Thanks though =)
