Just trying to clarify, but it says "reduces damage from all enemy units 300 units or more away from you" or something similar along those lines (feel free to correct me).
does this mean that the game checks for the original source of damage, or the incoming source of damage, or the location of source of damage?
let me clarify what they mean:
original source of damage: you are sandwraith. you ult while in your pool and an illusion spawns next to Tremble who's currently using dark swarm. does dark swarm count the damage from the illusion as from the illusion or from Sandwraith (outside of the swarm), and therefore take less damage or normal damage?
incoming source of damage: you're a ranged hero. you attack tremble while within 300 range of him. before the animation hits (and before the damage is dealt), he moves out of 300 range of you (or vice versa, depending on perspective). does tremble take full damage (due to the attack being RELEASED while within the full damage range) or mitigated damage (due to the attack actually hitting while outside of the dark swarm)
location of source of damage: the only thing i can think of is thunderbringer's lightning rod. while the damage I assume originates from TB himself yes, but does lightning rod put a prefix on all enemy heroes that enter his aura range that say this hero takes damage whenever TB casts? if so, does that mean LR will always technically "Be" on Tremble and therefore within the dark swarm, and be exempt from dark swarm? or does the damage, because it's originated from TB, and the game checks for that location (and therefore, TB's location) before determining mitigation from dark swarm?
thanks for clarifying.
In simple terms, enemies not affected by the DoT will deal reduced damage to you.
In more technically correct terms, search for Armadon's Armordillo. The general mechanics of "location" apply the same there as it does here.
For your questions:
- Counts the source location as from the illusion, not SW, since the illusion is what's damaging the unit.
- The damage reduction check takes place in the <ondamaged /> tag, so it will only do its check when you actually take damage.
- If you think about it that way, yes. However the source location is not some invisible unit hovering over TB but actually an aura emanating from TB, thus TB is the source.
Also, Tremble's Q only modifiers the damage done to Tremble only, not to other units.

I am an angry nerd who makes angry music in my bedroom. I also like doing flips.
this reminds me, i was reading it earlier and i noticed it is a physical ability, deals magic damage so does that mean anyone who is physically immune will deal reduced damage and take no damage while magic immune will deal full damage and take no damage(while in the AoE ofcourse)
Strange, so it is.
Time to find out why
Code:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <affector name="Affector_Tremble_Ability1" radius="300" lifetime="5000" targetscheme="enemy_units" effecttype="Physical" persist="false" effect="effects/decay.effect" > <onframeimpact> <damage effecttype="Magic" amount="20,40,60,80" b="frametime" op="mult"/> </onframeimpact> </affector>

Im assuming they did that so that void would be better counter to tremble, you woudnt get owned by swarm with it.If that is the case then they should have effettype check on that frameimpact instead of at state itself.
Elementuser, how those arent related? <condition target="target_entity" test="hasstate State_Tremble_Ability1_Armor"> checks for that aura and effecttype blocks it.

I'm not sure how to read that. The affector will only use targettype physical so if you are physical immune the animation wont play?
The damage is magical so if you are magic immune it will also do nothing?(This makes sense)
Hmm, yeah i agree with you
