    Casual Mode Vs Normal

My friend says they is next to no difference between normal and casual and that both modes give an accurate representation of a players skill. I blatently disagreed.

I played my first game of casual mode yesterday. It was very, very different. I felt like I was rolling in gold.

If you're good at a role in normal mode you'll be good at it in casual, but not necessarily the other way. Support is way easier in casual. So is ganking.

well this is kinda an debate between HoN and LoL with different heroes.

well with less fanboys as the ones enjoying CM much more is probably already playing LoL

Casual Mode shifts the game's focus away from farming to herokilling thanks to increased kill gold. It also reduces the role of teamwork and dedicated supports because carries and gankers will gain gold much faster.

The general consensus is that Casual Mode is fun, but that playing it while you're learning teaches you bad habits (mostly regarding hero picking, farming, and teamplay) that will serve you poorly in Normal Mode. Conversely, good Normal Mode players will, on average, do well in Casual Mode.

tl;dr they're both good fun, but learn Normal Mode first or you'll have a hard time with it later.

The game is balanced around nm, which leaves cm imbalanced. Some heroes are designed to be really good early and lose strengh as the game goes on, and some are designed to be the opposit. In nm it's balanced, in cm carries have a huge advantage...
You could argue that you need skill to win both modes, but cs is less important in cm, making nm more skillbases than cm because last hitting is more important.

    They are both just different types of gameplay. CM you get a heap of gold fast, which leads to massive damage early, normal it's slower but takes more teamwork, etc;

I don't think CM is "noob", it's just a different style of gameplay.

No. Carries are weak in cm, gankers are strong. It isn't em, as so many players seem to think.

CM is like a funmode in my opinion, if you start of with CM you have to relearn everything once you go to NM.

That's not the one and only truth. In CM nobody looses gold on death so you can't stop a jungler from farming. You can gank a Warbeast in the woods but he doesn't really care. He only has to wait for his respawn to go farming again. And you can't gank him that frequently because otherwise you will loose your lanes

In CM you have to end the game before the endgame. Otherwise the enemy hardcarry will pwn you unless you don't have a well farmed hardcarry in your team.

BTW gankers are strong in both modes. That's part of the metagame.

    OH SNAP!

i think your friend is kinda right tbh :> you just have to interpreate the stats in cm a bit different :P a guy who kicks serious ass in casual could probaly do fine in normal too after a tiny bit of adjustment.

edit: one of the things that make a huge difference is that some people don't take casual too serious, so if somebody goes in with serious mindset he probaly have a easier time stomping them :P

cm is super nub mode. tell those newbs to L2LASTHIT and not losing gold on death!?!? WHAT?! that on its own makes the mode retarded. ur winning ur lane? well denies dont matter, and if u kill the enemy laner, who cares, just gives him time to spend the money he racked up. AND dont you start with a chicken in cm? y is that? is it becuz newbs dont buy chickens and S2 relized this, so they just gave the newbs thier chicken? the players have plenty of gold in cm to buy thier own chickens.

EVERYTHING CM IS NEWB. its for fun or retards, dont ever think ur skilled while playing it

I have some friends who are extremely new to HoN and only enjoy playing CM because it's less intense for them, plus it is allowing them to have a better time. Should I start suggesting that we play NM? I prefer NM over CM but also I definitely prefer playing with friends over randoms.

If you're really new, I think it's better to begin with CM because you don't have to care about deny or some others aspect of the game like farming. You'll be more focus on knowing each hero abilities etc etc.

But when you begin to know every hero, I think it's better to go back to NM. For me CM is a more noob-friendly mod (as LoL is). HoN is a really elitist game so it could help new player to begin.

Also take into account the weak as crap towers...its EASY as hell to push towers in CM because they take a humongous amount of damage
