I don't get people whining about the shop. The day S2 releases heroes you can only get with coins is the day half the playerbase leaves. Until then it's pure cosmetic stuff, so get over it. Yes, I too am disappointed that they have taken this revenue generation route, but I guess HoN hasn't been as lucrative for them as they thought it would be. Either that or they're greedy, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.
Some of the balance changes confuse me, but the SBT team I would believe have been testing this for some time, so they must be ok with it. Only time will tell whether demented's 6 second token of life turns out to be ridiculous or not.

What exactly makes this patch stand out from other patches so much that it had to be hyped up? I mean there is a few nice changes here but we've had lots of similar patches before where there are numerous small changes

This. If there's anything to legitetmately complain about is that this "big realignment patch" announced weeks ago was little more than a few simple tweaks to 10 heroes/items and major changes to 2. I was expecting a good half of the items/heroes to get major changes/reworks and the rest to receive minor tweaks and fixes...

It really feels like pretty much got left in the dust...
