Hi I'm running heroes of newerth on the latest kernel update of Ubuntu Maverick Meercat.
I have successfully installed the latest graphics driver for my Nivida 330M on my Samsung R780 laptop.
Now i have played hon on this laptop under windows 7 (wireless) and had no problems what so ever. My connection is 10mb. So why is it that when i play heroes of newerth on ubuntu wirelessly that every couple of mins i just have one 1-3 second lag spike and then everything is back to normal.
I have tested this :
Wireless:
Practise server - Lag spike as usual
Normal server - as above
Enet
Practise - No lag.
Now why does my wireless not have any problems under windows 7 but has the odd flutter every couple of mins on inux?
on my Samsung R780 laptop.
P.s My wireless works flawlessly for browsing the internet and is supported by this version of unbuntu.
My wireless card is :
id:network
description: Wireless interface product: RTL8192E Wireless LAN Controller vendor: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. physical id: 0
bus info: pci@0000:02:00.0
logical name: wlan0
version: 01 serial: 00:e0:4c:00:00:01 width: 32 bits clock: 33MHz capabilities: pm msi pciexpress bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless configuration: broadcast=yes driver=rtl819xE ip=192.168.1.2 latency=0 multicast=yes wireless=802.11bg resources: irq:16 ioport:c000(size=256) memory:f6800000-f6803fff
Now i can provide more sysinf stuff if needed.
Please note* I have only been using Ubuntu 10.10 for a few months now from Windows 7 so im still learning, tech talk wont help me an awful lot. I just want to remphasize the fact that i could play hon wireless flawlessly under windows 7 so there is nothing wrong with my connection as such.
Thankyou and i look forward to your help!
You need to refer to your distributions support for this
This isn't a HoN issue (as you have shown HoN works fine via ethernet)
only tip I can give is look into wireless powermanagement. If for some reason the kernel is dropping TX/RX power this will effect the quality
