Mighty and stoic, this famed warrior left behind the ruins of his home for a place in King Maliken's first Legion. From boyhood on, he has known nothing but battle, and his silent determination and deadly strength have earned him the epithet "Hammerstorm." Every blow of his hammer resounds like a death knell across the battlefield.
Damage 54-56
Armor 1.24
Move speed 295
Attack type Melee (125)
Attack rate 0.59
Attributes
Strength 23 (+2.7)
Agility 16 (+2.0)
Intelligence 14 (+1.3)
With a good base damage and no spread to speak of, last-hitting with Hammerstorm is a breeze. His strength gain is rather average, but his pitiful base int and int growth leave him with a small manapool throughout the game.
Bread-and-butter. Deals moderate damage and is one of the few reliable, ranged stuns (Alongside Andromeda's comet and Blacksmith's Hammer). Note, it also affects units in a radius of your target.
A rather nice passive for teamfights, or just clearing waves of creeps quickly. Works wonderfully with Tempest's ultimate. Don't take this early on, the splash wont have much impact when laning or ganking. Note that you won't deal splash damage when attacking buildings.
Called Galvanize again. 1 point of this early on will save your ass multiple times. Use it for chasing, pushing down towers and in teamfights when there is a lot of physical damage being dealt.
Like the fist of an angry god. Note that this only boosts your base damage. +Damage from items will not be affected by this, only damage gained from Strength.

I usually max Galvanize, because it's very good for pushing. If there's a tempest in my team or teamfights are very clustered, i'll level Mighty Swing.
Bracers are good for you. They make you beefier, buff your damage and let you use your hammer throw more.
NOTE: I would advice you to replace 1 bracer with a Power supply. An awesome item for all heroes, it greatly benefits Hammerstorm's small mana pool. In this case i would rather start with some minor totems, a Logging Hatchet and your usual regen items. Buy the mana battery from lane.
Steamboots offer you attack speed and more strength. I used to make Enhanced Marchers, but with the (not so) recent nerf and the introduction of Galvanize, steamboots offer enough mobility for you.
Shrunken Head is the item for hammerstorm. You will be disabled when they see you pop your ulti, this is here to prevent that. It CAN be skipped if you have Jeraziah on your team and he doesnt have anyone important to use his shield on (Tempest, Defiler, Magmus to name a few.)
Elder Parasite gives you a good lifesteal and the activate makes you fast as a devil. Be wary of when to activate it, you dont want to get focused down with that bonus damage on you.
Magic armor is always good. Shaman's Headdress is very effective for the cost and is rarely not worth it.
You can go for Post Haste if you've managed to get the dough for it and think you can do without the stat boosts.
I personally dont like this item very much, but it is still very cost-effective for what it does.
You can build a Whispering Helm instead of Elder Parasite if you can do without the attack speed bonus.
Behemoth's Heart is always a good item for strength heroes.
You can make a symbol of rage if you went the whispering helm route earlier
Shieldbreaker is one of my favourite items, very effective on physical damage dealers.
Portal Key if you want to be a dick and cave someone's skull in without them getting a chance to run away from you
Daemonic Breastplate. Expensive, but effective. Also has a really cool visual aura effect.
Crits are good. Combined with your ultimate, you can dish out a lot of damage.
Ministuns are good. Not the best item for him, but can deal some good damage if you have stacked some attack speed.
Hack&Slash is a bad item. Don't get it.
There are better items for damage. You dont want people to focus you because of the damage aura..
You already have a hammer.
Helm of the Black Legion is a mediocre tank item. You are not a tank, do not get it.
Your BFFs
THE partner for Hammerstorm. She heals you, can replenish your entire mana pool with Grace of the Nymph and teleport you around for bashing some skulls. A very strong lane combo
Awesome aura, has a great disable and a slow too.
Both allow for a super-cheesy lane combo. You toss your hammer and start beating on them -> the other guy follows up with his stun and nuke. Many low-hp heroes will die from this, or in the least, force them back to the fountain.
His ultimate works incredibly well with your high damage and splash. Toss a stun on them afterwards for even more hurt.
His shield is wonders for you, and cauterize will keep you in good shape.
The meanies
The little guy's prepared for you. His ultimate dispells your ultimate, and is a very tough nut to crack with that mana shield of his.
2 disables and a mana drain to make your small mana pool even tinier
She'll sticky you up with her webs and grind the war machine that is you to a halt. You can't really do anything to her yourself, you'll either need a teammate to deal with her or use a homecalling stone to get away if you have to.
Women sure are trouble. Heartbroken will make you that much weaker and she's got 2 strong disables to stop you from harming her team
I've lost this twice already, once because of a powercut and then the forums ate it. Please point out any mistakes, and if you wish to express your opinion on my item and/or skill choices, feel free to do so. I will take them into consideration.

Does Elder Parasite also amplify the damage u take by turning on Insanitarius?
If so u should mention that, so people dont get both.
And how about stacking cleave items, i.e Runed Axe, if for example u hav a tempest in ur team, that was pretty funny in Dota where i stacked battlefurys on kunkka to actually deal more damage to the people around my target, that the my target itself....xD
Anyway, thumbs up from me

Could you include a section on how to play the character from early to late game?
I'd also recommend getting cleave earlier because it does wonders for clearing creep waves and getting last hits after level 8. Excellent farming tool.
Finally, elder's parasite is a dangerous item. You have two alternatives to that and they have their own bonuses (damage, armor, mana regen, team aura...). Now that he doesn't have a +armor aura, I think it is much more interesting to go for abyssal skull. I love this hero but I don't appreciate the benefit of elder's parasite. He already deals sick damage with his ult. Elder's takes mana and makes you vulnerable for a few faster kills. Doesn't help much while chasing either. Depends on the player obviously, but I found that elder's parasite didn't change the way any fights were going to go.
Also change the picture for hammer throw to reflect the latest tool tip.
Pretty good job.
I prefer 1x Crown, 3x Totems, 2x Runes and 1x Clarity to start with. Cool guide though. Hammerstorm is my favourite carry simply because most players severely underestimate him.
It works with criticals, I've crit people for over 1k being juiced out...
Perhaps include a ring of sorcery or a bottle in you're build since having the mana to cast hammer throw every single time its of cool down rocks.

I think starting with 1x Regen Bracelet, 1 Set of Trees and 3 Minor Totems is a good start.
He needs extra magic defense as mages will be quick to nuke him so going for Shamans Headress quickly works well for me.
Also I think getting the 3/3/6 (Dont know it's name) item is better then Fortified Bracelet, the +3 str won't matter as much as he is already loaded with str, and he needs a larger mana pool.
Hammerstorms only problem happens when his manapool is empty, having a mana potion early in game was very handy, I normaly skipped that one before.
I've also noticed that the shrunken head can oten be skipped in lowlevel pub games, I've only been disabled in aprox 1/10 matches
But keep in mind it CAN happen (very depending on experiance and char selecion of opposing team)
The shaman headress can indeed be helpfull.
last game I started with the mana potion, treesnacks and the magic defence robe (sorry for not knowing names at this point)
the luxury item Behemoth's Heart is indeed very nice for this hero, it allows you to
1: get a bigger damage(this works very nice with the ulti)
2: get you a bit more health that can allow you more hits before you flee/die
if you get hammerstorm's level up early in game you have yourself a nasty bastard
I generally get Behemoth's Heart just to balance out the damage from Insanitarius. All I can say is I love hammerstorm.
No on both accounts. Armlet deals true damage to self, parasite lifesteal offsets it when both are turned on as long as you're whacking something. Cleave stacking on hammerstorm is strictly bad, he doesn't have tidebringer. If you ever play a game where you get more than one runed axe you need to start playing against better opponents.
As for the guide's item build, replace one bracer with power supply. You lose 3str but gain the potentially lifesaving heal/mana. It's a good item on every hero now imo. I usually go the same build, but you farm pretty well so armlet is pretty attainable after that, heart is luxury.

Sorry but your argument that stacking cleave on hammerstorm isn't really that valid.
Sure its not the best item for him, and he has a passive cleave, however 85% cleave is better then 50%. It adds +60 dmg and gives mana/hp regen. Its a very nice item & stacking over 100% cleave dmg is just freaking nasty (I would never do that but its an alternative)
Also on Mock of Brillance - it gives him MASSIVE AOE presence, big dmg + an aura that does further AOE dmg.
I suppose what it all boils down to is preference on how to build a hero =)
My build tends to be simple (and hasn't really failed yet) Stats + Stun, ulti at lvl 6, Stats till 10, lvl 11 ulti, Cleave + Stats & Ulti.
3x Fortified thingies (bracers), Steam boots str, Helm of Black Legion. At this point it changes as to what i build - Shieldbreaker/Mock of Brilliance/Crit/Wispering Helm/Eye of Frostwolf/demonic breatplate - all depends on who i'm vrs & how well the farm is going.
Seems to work well, have about 2k hp at lvl 10, quite a few kills & Sure you get focused in team fights, but that allows your team mates to batter them back & take very little dmg while u tank it out![]()
I agree with everything in this guide very nice job.

I'll fill this in for you.Could you include a section on how to play the character from early to late game?
1) Activate Brute Strength and Battle Command.
2) Throw Hammer at target.
3) Beat target into the ground like a post.
4) Repeat steps 1-3 until opposing team is crying for nerfs.
This goes for early, mid, and late game.
