In addition to the Helm of the Black Legion forum award we will also be awarding 250 goblin gold to future premium guide authors. If you write a guide and want to submit it for consideration as a premium guide you should PM all of the strategy moderators with a reason and a link to your guide.
I strongly recommend you read our premium guide requirements thread and nomeswisdoms guide guide.

Do guides have to be written in 100% serious manner to become premium, or is a slightly humorous style ok as well?

I have no problem with humor. Just don't do some thing like all caps lock rampage guide and expect it to get into the premium section.

How long does this offer last? And if our guide is accepted as a premium guide will it remain in the premium guide section indefinitely? I noticed that there were surprisingly few premium guides, most heroes did not have premium guides at all. Is there any limit to the number of premium guides that will be accepted for each hero?

There is no time limit set on this currently so forever unless i hear otherwise. Guides stay in the premium section as long as they are up to date they are removed from the section if not updated for a long enough period of time. The limit for guides is 1 per hero. If you write a hero guide that is better then the current premium version that guide will be replaced by yours.

Would it be too much to ask for some numbers of the incoming premium guide contestants for each hero? I'm curious too see how much competition my in-utero hero guide will have, if I choose to make one.
You can see the guides section and the drafts section, in-theory every guide writer is trying to get theirs to be premium. So by looking in those sections you can see what competition you have with a particular hero.
