I find it funny how so many people have no concept of how important good picks for successful lanes are. Typical example goes melee heroes...except arachna....
10 mins later "arachna is a noob didn't gank enough, failed mid herp a derp"
Guess what... its not mids fault you failed your lane lol
Seriously hon is like engineering if your groundwork/support is bad (picks/laning phase) then your building will fall down on innocent people i.e. you will lose and drag your team mates down with you
okily dokily ramble over
I had one guy the other day suggest we do a quadlane.... wtf is a quadlane lol i mean really really REALLY u want them to free farm a lane????!!!!!
i agree completely. such a common and completely stupid reason to lose in pub games.
: /
if it happens i just solo mid or jungle.
Random the first second.
Let the others deal with your pick choice.
S2 has still done their part XD... cmon everybody is warned about how important that is even before picking phase
"CHOOOSE WISELY"
Just love the way that people still havent got a clue even though they have never carried a team and have a 30% win ^^
It's not that they don't know what are good picks, it's that they refuse to play anything but the hero they want. No-one cares for teamwork in pubs.
I've had a guy recently in AR who, when we had 2 hard carries, repicked glacius and got magebane. Of course he knows it's bad to repick, he is just too much of a slack to be willing to support one game.
There's no "I" in team. There's a "me" though, if you jumble it up.
^
I just find it silly that some people would rather pick 'their own' heroes in situations where it really is such a terrible idea. This is usually a bigger problem in systems like SD games where choice is slightly limited.
Who really enjoys playing a game where right off the bat it doesn't even matter how good you are -- you will lose so hard in the laning phase it doesn't even matter. I hate those kinds of wasted games where skill doesn't even get to come into play. Just getting outhero'd.
90% of the people I play with wants to lose it seems.

the problem with the whole "random and let everyone else deal with your random" is that usually the rest of the team just grabs all carrys or solo mid heroes and tries to be good at the game. 90% of the people wont look at the other players and who the other people tend to play as or do good as. AND most people tend to not show their picks before hand, they just ninja pick at 5secs with no warning of who they plan on playing.
If im with 3 friends and we have 1 pubber I will try to make him pick around OUR lineup, seeing as we are more experienced with each other. Generally the pubber will be worse than me, so I prefer him to be supporting/ganking than playing midlane for example.
So yeah, I dont play heroes I dont want to play - but i also never pub on my own. In a normal game for me I will be the one deciding the picks and bans, and all I can do is HOPE the public player (if there even is one) listens. If he doesn't and I trust him to play a carry for example (I will base this on stats, despite that they aren't always accurate) I will let him play one, but most of the time I don't want to take any chances leaving important roles to people I dont know.
Back on topic: Yes picking is important. If two completely equal teams (skillwise) are matched up and one has better heroes they will win. The only way for the other team to win is by completely outplaying them, in public games this is still quite easily possible - but at higher levels the chances drop drastically for this to happen.
I'd rather lose with great stats, then lose with low stAts. I'm good with nh, so I ghost pick Right away. If my team doesn't want to support me, that's thier problem. 97% of the time I'll end the match with a great kdr... Win or lose.
Nighthound is the best hero ever... deal with it.
I just yell at stubborn people if they're going to **** up our lanes; most of the time they listen. Interspersing insults with actual logic tends to improve the success rate.
1. play only BD/BP
2. always assume orange/brown are gonna pick a melee hardcarry
3. your win rate has now increased by 33%
