btw: Lethe is right. you can deny it as much as you want. The Alpha male will always get what he wants, and he will surpass you in anything you do, he will get your girl, he will the better job than you and hes not only getting this becausse he looks more handsome, even if people are telling you this. thats how the humanity works, thats how all herd animals work. The Alpha male will always be the winner, and the other ones will just be the tools he is using to get his goals.
so you can either step up and be in controll, or become the minion of the sucess of others.
On the other hand, its hard to become something you arent, if you are born as a follower, you will stay a follower, if you are born as a leader, you will stay a leader. The faster you understand that the easier it gets.
think of a carry in HoN: you will support him and help him when he is weak by giving him the chance to push his self esteem and his dominance, but he will always get all the kills (sex) even if you did most of the work (with the girl) but in the end he will lead his team (depending, the nation, the tribe, your group of friends) to victory and earn all the fame, while you will keep supporting him.

I have a pretty "cold" vibe in RL (and it probably kinda shows in these forums as well) because I am brutally honest and subtle. A lot of people think I am not willing to help others, they couldn't be more wrong, I am willing to help people who are willing to take the initiative to help themselves, and there are a lot of people who won't even do this.
I don't believe that followers will stay followers and leaders will stay leaders. I was actually a really shy kid when I was in elementary/junior high school, which I attribute to my traits of asperger syndrome. Even in high school / early years of university I was a follower.
I don't know what changed over the last few years. I think it was because after 20 years of following I have finally seen enough of life to take control for myself. The people I try to associate myself with now are people that "get it", that is, they have the tools and knowledge to succeed in life no matter what life throws their way. This is usually a mix of connections from work, or those people who are so charismatic that people just glue to them...you know who these people are, they are the ones who will update their fb status and get 10 comments within a few hours.
The best part about my new personality is that I am an extremely subtle alpha male. People don't expect it because I've been a follower most of my life. Being an alpha male, unfortunately, but true, has a lot to do with manipulation. For those of you who watch criminal minds, you will be familiar with the term 'profiling'. In this sense, it basically means studying people in a short time frame to figure out how they work. 'Profiling' people I met was the key tool that helped me become an alpha male. You ask people questions, watch their response, watch their body language. It is a necessary tool though, and basically psyc 101 for any alpha male.
I can walk into a party, not hook up with a single girl (talking to them is enough) and people will get the impression that I am a stud. It is purely a psychological thing.
A word of advice, not just for this topic, but for life in general. The best thing you can do is to get into the heads of the people of everyone around you: their needs, wants, fears, thoughts, etc, and act accordingly. Most people only know how they themselves work. If you know how other people work, especially those people around you, you will see results. Why am I considered among my friends one of the most guarded people? Same as other alpha males. We don't want to be profiled.

I havent read everyones reponses, nor do I know how old OP is.
But it really comes down to two things, If girls are "acting that way" which if you were both getting drunk at a dance she's still in her "*****" phase. You can either A. Be alpha male and take control of her, ya you'll be kinda a dick....but it does work.
or B. you can wait, until she's mature.
This is exactly why I won't date anyone thats not above 23 or at least gotten her party girl "phase" out of the way, it's WAYYY to unpredictable. Im not a shy guy by any means, but I really dont want to deal with an unpredictable woman. You would be surprised what a few years can change in a woman.

Sounds like you dodged a bullet. Better to find out the hard way only after a couple dates than after being in a relationship for a long time.
