Ok, this is something that I see even 1700-1800 players doing and it drives me crazy, and it's actually more detrimental than anyone might think: standing in someone's way.
First of all, it makes it hard to chase enemy heroes. That's the obvious one.
Second, it makes it damn hard to escape, juke, dodge spells or get out of line of sight.
Third, it makes positioning your own abilities really difficult because instead of just casting the ability you have to either wait for your character to do a silly dance behind whomever's standing in his way (which due to HoN's horrible pathing system can take forever) or hit S and then cast, by which time the enemy might be out of range.
Fourth, if you're getting in someone's way, you're standing right next to them, so if the other team initiates you both are gonna die.
So what's there to work on? Try to stay a distance from your teammates (not like half the map, but a few inches on screen); if you both are going to the same place, micro your character so he doesn't run directly in front or behind a teammate, especially an initiator.
