I'm sure that all of you have heard about the Vietnam war somewhere In your life. During the
Vietnam war Vietnam was divided into 2 sections the North Vietnam and the South Vietnam. North Vietnam which was run by the communist and the South Vietnam was run by democracy. Exactly like how North / South Korea is today. The north is being run by communist Kim Jong-il and the South Korea which had democracy / freedom. During the Vietnam war the North Vietnamese communist supported the current flag that we have on HON and the South Vietnam supported the yellow flag with 3 stripes which represents freedom. During the Vietnam war the United States helped the South Vietnam fight against the North communist unfortunately the North won the fight and took over Vietnam completely. Many of us had lost our family/relatives in the war and hated how our county was being taken over by communism so we left Vietnam in fishing boats to look for freedom. In the United States, virtually no Vietnamese Americans use the current
flag of Vietnam, which many of them consider offensive. Instead, they use the flag of South Vietnam as their symbol for Freedom. Many of us hate the current Vietnamese flag because it represents communism. For Example, If North Korea did take over South Korea right now. I bet nobody from the South Korea will support the North Korea flag and will try to flee because they cant stand Kim Jong-il and communism. That is exactly how we South Vietnamese feel. This is like putting up a picture of Hitler in the Jewish community for us. Can you mods please take this into consideration and understand where we stand because it has more meaning and history behind it. Thank you for your time.
This is the South Vietnamese flag
