Actually, I remember I lost mid with Monkey King against Devo only twice. The rest like 20-30 games I won. I agree, MK is good against Devo, but its all with all - I always buy ward on cliff, try never to get hooked (also bait quite). The times I lost, I assume the Devo was simply a better player... So
found another-nomad,valk,tdl,maybe kraken or electrician.
Tbh those arent real counters, nomad isnt just that good and valk has higher cd in her leap than devo has in hes hook. Devo vs kraken/elec is just boring and nothing will happen. So damn many heroes Devourer loses against in Mid if they know what they are doing so Devo has to get his farm and levels from ganks. Gauntlet who knows his stuff usually stomps Devourers just to name one example.
MB CAN counter devo, but by no means the best counter. Max flash first. Blink onto him as he used his hook. "OH NO, HIS ROT". "Lol, 15 magic armour, thanks for helping me kill you with your rot, devo. Oh look, you have no mana." *ult* *Fist of Sol* *KNOW YOUR PLACE, PEASANT*
Morax would be a better counter, but not getting hooked, or, if you're tanky, blocking him from hooking a squishy hero by deliberately getting hooked will also work.
Another strong counter to devourer.
1. Pick invis hero
2. Stalk him constantly
3. Stand in front of his hooks while hes trying to hook people (make sure ur invis with decent hp)
4. Rinse and repeat until he rage quits.
Wards, are the most common way to counter devo. If you can dodge all hooks there are NO heroes that would not be able to deal with a slow melee hero coming at them to channel his melee range disable. Obviously it's not so cut and dried (devo is not a shite hero by any means) but this is the essential feature of devo. Counter that and you will do very well.
Other than that, heroes which can actually be hooked and turn it around on devo do exist. I'd put MK, Pebbles, Moraxus and possibly Nomad in this list. Be careful with MK/Nomad because if you screw up you're dead (they squishy).

i do find drunken master to be somewhat of a counter to dev as his ult makes his ult and his hook do nothing(like having moraxus shield but it last for a somewhat longer duration and doesnt get nulled the moment he hooks/ults you) also once out of ult that stun of Drunken master's can be quite beneficial to you(and your teams) health
with a lvl 3 shield breaker and a sols watch as dev's health melts
Oh Devourer, the ultimate Rookie-unfriendly hero. There are tons of heroes who counter devourer, and tons of ways to counter him
Here are some examples :
1. Map awearness. Know where he is, if he cant take u by surprise he cant kill u.
2. Pretty much every ranged hero in the game . Due to your range u can harass him and pull the creeps right next to your tower rather easily
3. STOP being scared of devo. if he misses 1 hook and then pursues u, he has nothing to do but turn on rot , damage u and damage himself. Unless your hero is as squishy as hell , u have no reason to run away from him. Most people's first instict is "Oh no he is next to me and he has turned on rot, RUN AWAY. Do that and odds are that he will kill you because he can resist his own rot more then u.
You can also kill devourer with any hero with high atk dmg and a nuke , any hero with a disable, any hero who has an escape mechanism
Heroes like Dr repulsor / gauntlet/balphagore/ salforis/panda/rampage/bezerker/Drunken master/monkey king/pharo/dw/tremble/electrician outright dominate and destroy his early game, and kill him way before he reaches lvl 6 .
Pretty much any hero in hon can dominate a devourer assuming u are always aware of devourer's location and constantly position yourself in such a way that there are creeps between u and him.
Just pick hag mid every time against every hero :3
Pick heroes with escape and problem would be solved.
The best counter to pudge is to pick Centaur and lol as you tank everything he has then rape him in the face.
Fkn S2 I want my Centaur.
Pharaoh or tundra are way better counters to dev.
^Yes pharao is a good counter and tundra beats anyone 1v1 so nothing special there.

It's worth mentioning Tablet too. It's cheap and will help you away from his rot, and there's often a cliff around.

it's pretty true. everything you guys post is speculation. the fact remains that while devo can be countered in many ways, a pro on devo will undoubtedly always have a positive kdr. he is a great hero. just like monkey king.
