    I'm Confused About Armor!

Just a few minutes ago I was playing as Hammerstorm, but one thing I noticed was that other players had so much more armor than me...

I was lvl 12, 0-0, and my partners were 13-15. I know there levels show that they could have farmed more gold than me, but their armor was twice as much as mine (mine was at about 10, and theirs were about 20). I looked at their builds and didnt see anything of signifigant regared, except for perhaps agility items, as their heroes were agility heroes anyway.

But aren't most strength heroes designed to play as tanks? Is HammerStorm one of them? Without my aura, my armor would have been 5, and theirs 15.

My build at the time (item wise) was:

    2 Strength Bracelets
    Shamans Hairdress
    Steam Boots on Strength

Can anyone clarify the various ways to increase armor rating?

    Thanks in advance!

    Agility increases armor

then of course, any item/skill that explicitly gives you +armor

Armor is granted by an increase in Agility, Items and Auras.

Hammer is great with his plus 5 Armor Buff, but get him and Demonic Breast Plate and SoulStealer on your team in one area and that is +10 to your armor and -10 to enemies armor. Makes for some squishy enemies.

That said, Abyssal Skull give 5 armor (does not stack with Demonic, or so THEY say) and Teachers ring (I think that is the name and it does stack for an extra +3 armor to teammates, resulting in any teammate in range getting +13 armor on top of what they already have)

While he can be strong on him own, I almost always try to build him as a support. +13 armor to allies (and a slight increase in AS) and -5 to you enemies. That is enough to turn a battle. I was on the losing team, (we were barely behind but still going downhill) But when I got my Demonic up and Abyssal (life steal stacks with players own items) we just started to steam roll them. How do you kill an bunch of guys coming at you with 30+ armor when you have 15 or less.

Plus his stun is a nice way to keep those now squishy heroes in range of your now tank like teammates

Enhanced Marchers, which are definitely the most common boots, add 7 armor.

first things first. hammerstorm has some of the worse starting and armor gain in the game (like pebbles and magmus)
second armor items will do just that increase your armor
