Spellshards: FAQ
Will spellshards make the enemies magic armor go below zero?
No, spellshards will not make magic armor go below zero.
If they have 5.5 Magic Armor and you have level 3 Spellshards (ignores 6 Magic Armor). It will act as if the enemy has 0 Magic Armor.
But what if I have Harkon's blade?
It's the same here, won't make Magic Armor go below 0. Keyword: Ignores Magic Armor. Harkon's Blade will first apply the -5 Magic Armor debuff and Spellshards will ignore 2/4/6 M.armor after that.
There's a difference between ignoring M.armor and applying a -M.armor debuff.
Will Spellshards damage Devourer/Accursed more if they use Decay/Cauterize?
Yes, Spellshards work for ALL magic damage.
Does it work for Mock of Brilliance?
Yes, all magic damage is amplified.
Sandwraith's Dissipate?
All, magic, damage.
Note: Spellshards only increase your Magic Damage.
Do Spellshards stack?
The armor reduction stacks, but remember that it will not work beyond 0 magic armor. The cooldown reduction from Spellshards does not stack. Spellshards will also stack with Rhapsody aura.
Spellshards: Mechanics and In-Depth Damage Calculations
- After all other Magic Armor reductions are factored into play, it checks if Adjusted Magic Armor > 0.If Adjusted Magic Armor < 0 , then Spellshards won't factor in its Magic Armor removal.[If it is, then it does Adjusted Magic Armor - <Spellshards Magic Armor Removal Amount>. If that number is less than 0, then it "treats" your attack as though it's hitting a unit with 0 Magic Armor.
Else, it just "treats" your attack as though it's hitting a unit with Magic Armor - <Spellshards Magic Armor Removal Amount>]
*Note: This mechanic only works for the wielder of Spellshards.
**Note that this mechanic works on all damage that is Magic or a subtype of Magic (ie, SuperiorMagic), independent of the target that is incurring the damage.
Example scenario #1: Positive -> Positive -> Negative
Example scenario #2: Positive -> Positive -> Positive
Example scenario #3: Positive -> Negative -> Negative

Does it work for, say, slithers ult?
how are DoT's affected by this? just ignores a set amount of magic armor until duration is up?
Anyway, does it work with items too? say Mock of Brilliance / codex?
edit: just found some threads and apparently it does work with items and DoT's as you would think.
There is no "duration" on this fictitious "magic armor removal".

Does it work for minions too? say if a puzzlebox wizard you have and you use a spell, how about if you are ophelia and you use tornado from the bird creep?
There is no "duration" on this fictitious "magic armor removal".You are so mean element, i just used your words<Spellshards Magic Armor Removal Amount>
It's a shame it doesn't work well with Harkons...
Foreseeing less use of Harkons on the big damage nuke carries.
Whats the point of this tread? All heroes have the same base magic armor.
The point of this thread is to clear any confusion about the damage mechanics.

how does CD reduction work with something like behe heart on an int hero?
I'd guess that the reductions are applied one after the other and not both to the base cd, is that correct?
It would be CD * 0.91 * 0.85 = reduced CD.

Retail Candidate Testers are not S2 Games employees. Nevermind you probably have no idea what RCT is.
Anyway you can apply here, and read about it here.
Don't hesitate to report all of your teammates using thefunction.
Open a thread for everything you can think of and just ignore the Forum Rules.
Mixed is reduced by both types, so when it does the magic armour reduction section it will apply there.
