    Hero tier system?

In the competitive dota scene, there was a fairly specific listing of all the heros, and a community driven classification given to each hero on a overall level of effectiveness.

I understand that we have the Maide ranking that shows us what percentage win chances each hero has in any random game, but I would like to see one more based on high level competitive play... as a few heros I feel are far down the "win list" only because they are not effective in EM/CM/newb games. IE pharaoh, glacious, DementedS, and a few carries.

A small example of how it worked in dota... (heroes are just examples, no idea how accurate they would be.)

    __Tier 1__

    magmus, sand wraith, chronos

    __Tier 2__

    ophelia, pollywog

    __tier 3 (junk/pub heroes)__

    rampage, scout, nighthound

Hope you brought your shovel, its time to bury some noobs.

In HoN a new player will just get run over and spend half the game waiting to respawn while their team wishes they would die in a car accident.

Im not a competitive player by any means but used to watch a lot of replays and follow the scene, so I may have an slight idea of what tiers look like now:

God tier: Those heroes fit too well on the current metagame or are arguably overpowered/too versatile. Picked or banned almost every game.

Top Tier: Extremely good heroes, but not as the god tier ones. Common picks or bans.

    :fors:

Upper Tier: Good heroes that arent picked as much as in the past for various reasons (outshined, minor nerfs, metagame, new items, etc...) but are still good and/or viable.

    Situational picks:

The rest are never picked in the current metagame or very very very rarely for whatever reason (usually nerfs). I didnt include moraxus or myrmidon since I have no idea. Also magebane is seeing some competitive light recently but still too early to tell imo.

Dont flame please, i know i could be completely wrong so it would be nice if we can do one decent tier list. Feel free to correct me.

From watching a lot of honcasts and replay casts. Those aren't organized in any specific way (BH being at the very bottom doesn't mean that he's the weakest!):

S: (Almost always picked or banned)

    A: (Often picked, sometimes banned)

    B: (Sometimes picked, strategically banned)
    :fors:

    :chro:

    C: (Strategically picked, never banned)

    Jeraziah, Nymphora, Torturer, Puppet Master
    Blood Hunter, Rampage, Kraken

    (Image limit hit)

What I think would be interesting is a Grimm's Crossing tier list.

    edited: forgot 2 heroes

Well it all depends. Behemot is a sick hero in any turtle line up but rather bad with a pushstyle strategie... . Also it kinda depends on the players that play him. DS for example I would consider to be in the lowest tier but then Notail comes and roflstomps EG with him. Same with magebane who I would consider not pickworthy unless as a straight counter or w/e but then I see DWI play him... .

Unless some really obvious "top tier" heroes like WS or Bubbles its really hard to tell. And those top tier heroes are usually there just because they are super viable and fit in so many lineups, that means you can almost always pick them up and build a team around them, that then is based on the other team picks.

Great list there, though with the spellshards now out, I think the god tier heroes just got a lot more godlier :/

You need to add the Rampage tier.

Andromeda def not top tier anymore, losing her touch imo and Elec is banned wheneever brized plays

That's why I organized my list by how often they're picked or banned, instead of trying to gauge power levels (an exercise in frustration).

The lowest tier is "strategically" picked, which means they're only picked if they fit into a specific strategy a team is going for (that is, DWi with Magebane or EG with Wildsoul). They're very rarely banned, though I imagine some teams will spend a ban on Magebane if they're up against sniperdad420.

The second-to-lowest tier is strategically banned, which is why you sometimes see Behemoth or Vindicator (who are both in that tier) banned even though they're uncommon picks - they're capable of countering a strategy that a team is going for. Also in that tier are heroes like Slither or Demented Shaman, which you don't want players like Trixi or n0tail operating. Thus, strategy!

The top two tiers are powerful and flexible. They're the common picks you'll see in high-level games and competitive games. It's hard to go wrong by picking those heroes.

Note that this list, again, is just how often they're picked. It isn't a power level list nor is it a pub tier list.

this is a good idea, i think that KotF deserves to be in the top tier, when played right and with the correct farm he can dominate matches. people just dont know how to build him anymore :/ i see too many players trying to build HotBL and Barrier Idol on him when they should be building EP and mock, owell. let the rage insue.

Edit: also, too many people rush restoration stone early game when they clearly dont have the mana necessary for 2 ults :/.

These lists show more how often heroes are picked in comp games then hero power levels.
