I'm a bit new, I have a question about magmus.
I played him today, and tried a few tactics with him (some found here).
Obviously its magmus, so I became the strongest player in the game (3v3), but both my team mates were complete noobs, fed the other team and really just did w/e they had (or didnt have...) in mind.
In the end we lost, but as magmus I could keep our base defended for the most part.
The thing is, as the game progressed I noticed magmus is getting weaker and weaker, and no matter what I tried to do (had more than enough cash), it wasn't enough. The spells became obsolete, since everyone had 2k and 3k hp, and now I relayed on keeping them fogged for a while, stunning and then hitting them to death.
Which was a problem with no help, and more so because other heroes are just way better melee fighters than magmus (the way I played it anyway).
So, what do you do with magmus when you reach the point when using your ultimate harms you more than it does good? if anyone survives it, they'll most probably lowered your life a lot and now just have to go for the final hit...

Late game you really just become a tank. You have to rely on your carries to do the heavy-lifting while you soak up the damage. Your stun and ult combo is still a great disuptor, but don't get cocky like almost every Magmus I play with and think that you're ult will kill the entire team so you can run into 5 people by yourself.
Behemoths heat, Insanitarius, Flayer, Steam boots, Hack and Slash, Symbol of Rage. Items that would make him a carry honestly you just want to win the game before the other teams carrys become a problem. Sounds like it was your teams fault.
Heart + other basic tank stuff and a Totem of Kuldra to be of some use lategame :P

Seems like justice that this guy becomes pretty useless towards the end.
What heroes make good end game and good lane pushers early?
I can think of hellbringer, but other than playing him nicely I donno how to deal with him (item wise).
hellbringer's pretty useless late game too. The problem is, all the good carries, zephyr, chronos, madman, are not that great early game. Except madman, but I don't know how to play him t.t Swiftblade's pretty good, dominates early game, and lategame if fed. Still not as good as madman though
Late game you are a tank with a stun and still useful ult. I shoot for:
Phase Boots
Blink Dagger
BKB
Heart
Shivas
in that order. once you have heart/shiva you have enough HP and armor to be very hard to kill. you have your ult + shivas for aoe slow and dagger + stun for chasing down peopel after team fights. last spot for a TP scroll so you can get back to defend

that's the build i prefer too, cause with this build your team has one of the best entrys of the game, with your ult you can still bring ppl to 3/4 of hp or even less, slow them and let your team entry with a great advantage, than you can tank like hell, slow ppl, stun ppl and stuff.
magmus is one of my favourite heroes indeed :|
