Newly bought ittem goes to other's stash

So, I had this game (21079255) where I was demented shaman, and I buy a halberd in the courier, at the exact same moment Macro_James (witch slayer) buys wards. I see my halberd coming in the courier for less than a second, and instantly it changes into wards, and no more halberd, not in my stash either, but yet, my money was gone...

about 10 minutes later, Macro_James found out that my halberd came into his stash for some unknown reason. He told me that there wasn't even a name on the item of to who it belonged, and he could sell it as well. When putting it on the courier however, it became my item again (but I already bought another 1, because we thought the halberd was gone because of a bug, soit had no use anymore)

we pretty much lost the game because of that, since I had to farm a new one instead of being able to push a second lane.


The exact minute (ingame time, not replay time) was: 49.25 - 49.26.

Macro had wards in his stash, just the exact moment I buy the halberd, he placed the wards in the courier. if you see the replay on slowmotion, it's half a second that it shows the halberd, and then the wards (so half a second in 1/8 speed, that's almost no time at all ingame...)

so, I did lose my money, but the moment Macro_James put his wards from stash on the courier, (the same moment), his wards come in the courier, and my halberd goes in his stash.

either it's a bug, or a mistake in the game, because it shouldn't be possible to put items from other players in your stash. (for as far as I know, it's not possible either, so it must be a bug in this case)

but the weirdest thing is, that he could actually sell it, because it didn't say it belonged to me, when he had it in his stash.

this happened to me once, I forget what item I lost, I think it was a blessed orb. Wards took its place, no one said anything about it being in their stash though

+1 Has happened to me as well when using courier, but nobody got the item in their stash. Luckily it was just a Punchdagger though...

It's not a bug though, merely just very very coincidental timing (I have seen at least 3 reports regarding this exact issue).

I don't think he was correct in saying he can sell it - he should've tried to.

Yep had the same thing a while ago. As wildsoul i instabuy thunderclaw, see it in courier for 0.1sec, and then see it change into another item, owned by someone else. couldnt find my thunderclaw anywhere and my teammates were in very much disbelief about what happened till the one that bought the second item told me he had it in his stash somehow. can't give match id but this sure as hell is weird.

Bought items going to the wrong stash is very much a bug. But the question is, is there a way to fix it?

I think it happens because of lag, both players try to put it into the empty slot at the same time, the second player ends up swapping the first players item with his own.
They would have the item as if they had picked it up off the floor (unable to use it for most items).

Uh, you can't swap other people's items to your own stash, can you??

Not normally, but this isn't a normal situation.

It's not a real bug, it just has to do with latency, the time the server receives the commands, frame mechanics and very good/coincidental timing.
