I hereby request that you integrate the ability to ghost pick 'random' during the picking phase of all modes. This will allow you to tell people that you plan on 'randoming'. This would be nice in case there happen to be some language barriers or the like on your team.
EDIT: Another note, is that this would also help indicate whether or not someone is AFK. Several times people think I am AFK because I random a lot, but I sometimes I don't random until around 30 seconds.
EDIT: Also, it would let you know the number of potential randoms during the picking phase. This is often vital information as to make a decision on what type of hero you will be taking.
The icon should be unique, and display something like a dice or a question mark.
TL;DR - Add the ability to "Ghost Pick" a "Random" hero.

A sound suggestion.
Stats are like women in bikinis, they are interesting to look at however they don't show you everything.
not needed imo... no prepick = random
The only problem is that leads to ambiguity, because you may think the person is going to random, but they actually just haven't ghost picked yet, haven't made up their mind, or could be afk as well.
Being able to ghost pick random would alleviate some of of the amibguity there.
It is very easy to indicate what hero you want to pick. Why not let you have the ability to indicate, "I'm not sure what hero I'm going to get because I'm going to random."
Nice idea. Make the icon either die or question mark and it'll be cool.

You not knowing what they are picking and them randoming gives you the same amount of information about your line-up:
- You dont know their hero
Ill give you a t-up regardless just because it looks pretty.

Well it does make a difference. If you already have 2 melee and you KNOW 1 person is going to random then you should pick 2 ranged just in case the random is a melee. If you think they will pick and only 1 person picks up a range then that could leave 4 melee. Not exactly an ideal situation.
I thought that they implemented this in a test patch a while back... maybe it didn't make it through or I miss-read it.
isnt this the same as not picking anything, and letting it auto random you, assuming you say in team chat that you will be randoming? seems like it.
cant you just say "im randoming" and get the same effect

Don't think this is really worth dev time. Yeah, it'd be a quick fix, but the same goes for a lot of other useful features that can't be duplicated with a simple "I'm going to random" message in the game lobby.
the idea is if i speak english and the guy who is randoming speaks spanish, i still don't know if he's randoming or not.
I would also like to add that this would take one person less than an hour to test and implement. they probably already have a method that runs when you ghost pick, to pull in the icon to your avatar. it would not be hard to run the same method for randoming. all they have to do is pick an icon and add some lines to pull it to your avatar when you right click.

very sound idea, allows you to know if people are actually intending to random or are either AFK or waiting to pick there hero last minute (which really can ruin a whole game)

Already tried to right click the random button while thinking it would ghost it
It's something that should be implemented for a long time
