Do people rage at you often in-game or even during the picking phase?
Do you think a Brutaliser is viable on Magebane as your first damage/farming item?
Do you think 0-10 (or something similar) is an appropriate score as any class of hero?
Do you think that having 3, 4 or even 5 carry heroes is acceptable?
If you answered yes to any of these questions read on.
I am assuming if you have answered yes to any of these questions, you have been raged at by one or more players in HoN. I have some simple advice which I would like to give you when you encounter a situation where somebody is raging at you.
1. Tell them to calm down and ask them WHY they are angry
2. Record the reason(s) that they give you
3. Post the match ID and the reasons in the 'Training Grounds' forum and have a general concensis to see if what the player said to you has merit
4. If the reasons have merit, adjust your game-play accordingly
If you players who are raged at often do this, you will be surprised at how quickly your game-play improves, take this hypothetical game situation for example. Where then the player hypothetically follows the steps above and hypothetically improves his game-play.
HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION:
Player 1 is in the lobby and the game has just started, the four other players have ghost picked accordingly:
Madman
Witch Slayer
Pollywog Priest
Chipper
Player 1's team is screaming at you 'GET MAGMUS OR BEHE, SOME KIND OF INITIATOR'
Player 1 feels like playing Scout so he/she ghost picks Scout. Player 1's team begins to RAGE. The game is played and Player 1's team loses because they have no initiation.
HYPOTHETICAL SITUATION (APPLYING MY STRATEGY):
After the rage begins, Player 1 queries his team as to why Scout will not fit into their line up. He/she receives the response 'Our team has no initiation and we already have a hard carry, we are likely to lose if Scout is added to our line-up'. Player 1 then readjusts his hero pick to Behemoth and as a result the game is much funner and much closer (can't really go as far as saying they are guaranteed to win). Then Player 1 posts on the forums and is reassured by many other players that him choosing Behemoth over Scout for the reasons given were legitimate.
Now Player 1 has learned that a team with an initiator and a hard carry is better than a team with two hard carries and no initiator. PLAYER 1 HAS BECOME A BETTER PLAYER.
In conclusion, you can learn by listening to other people and if you are in doubt inquire about the issues people raise in game. Learning from more experienced players will boost your gamplay phenomenally. I have applied this principle since I started playing HoN. I have improved, I started as a 1200-1300 player, now my psr fluctuations between 1580-1620. Obviously that doesn't mean I'm a good player, it just means that by applying these principles my game-play has improved.
