Orb of Malice
Item Properties/Attributes:
* + 5 to all stats
* Passive ability - Orb: Every 1 second, an orb projects from the wielder, dealing 25 damage to a random enemy unit in hero's view range. Does not hit neutral units.
* Estimated TOTAL cost/availability: Will cost about 1000 gold, and be useful early\mid game.
Item ingredients:
Crushing Claws - Gauntlets of Strength: +3 Strength - 150 gold
Duck Boots - Slippers of Agility: +3 Agility - 150 gold
Mark of the Novice - Mantle of Intelligence: +3 Intelligence - 150
Recipe: 550 gold.
Total cost: 1000 gold.
Goal of the item:
Ment to be an item useful for harassing enemy creeps\heroes early game, but for the most part it's very useful when facing enemy heroes toe to toe in forest for that extra DPS. Also useful for catching up with enemies getting away with a very small percentage of their health points left. Finaly a tool to catch up with those mofo-luckers who always get away with a small portion of their hp left.
Dont know if it should be active while being invisible, this could be a double-edged sword. For the first part, it reveals the cloaked hero's presence, but on a second note, it makes the cloaked hero able to deal damage without breaking his invisibility.
Another thought that came to mind, was the option to make this item even stronger by buying the recipe multiple times, increasing the orbs damage, and making it a useful item throughout the game. It could be very useful for tanks getting ganked for example.
As I read through I thought "this is silly.." then got to your points about chasing and solo forrest encounters and liked it a lot more!
Interesting idea, esp the leveling up like codex etc
Certainly an idea with merit!
Have it be activateable. Otherwise you're going to have several problems - just one is the invisibility thing that you said. Another MAJOR one is when you're going through the forest, creeps attacking you when you don't want them to. Also, if you're waiting to gank someone, and they see a random orb fly through the air from the direction that you're in? Too revealing.
Should require a small amount of mana every time an orb is released. As previously stated, activation should be toggle-able.
Agreed with making it toggle-able and drains mana.
But upon upgrade it shouldn't match Mock Brilliance (Radiance) in terms of damage in any way.
Does this do magic damage or ? Radiance does magic damage and HOD will help negate it...
Yes yes, toggle-able is absolutely a good choice for it. But as far as the mana drain, I would say it should not be THAT significant, as it should be good for tanks as well (Given it has upgrades), and they should be able to spam it at all times. As far as the damage of it, I dont see why it should NOT go over Radiance (Mocking Brilliance) damage, as that item deals damage to ALL enemies in the area, while this one only deals damage to 1 random unit per second. As for it's damage type, my first thought was to make it PURE, but I'm open for ideas.
it sounds like you didnt even read what he wrote. he put that the item does not affect neutral units. and about being invisible is no problem since you would have the same effect with radiance. so its not something completely new. if you are a stealth unit that doesnt want to be noticed, you probably wouldnt buy radiance or this item. thankfully, most units dont stealth so thats not a big deal.
i think this is a good item. the randomness is cool and i think upgrading it like codex or w.e its called would be nice to increase the damage. like 25 at first then each level it is increased by 25. 4 levels max. so it does 100 damage at the highest which is random so its not guaranteed to even hit the enemy you want it to but it does help if there are no creeps around.
It has to be AOE like 1200 aoe (600 all around the hero) and you need the vision of the zone. If it upgradable, you need a sort of debuff on the target because if all 5 heroes stacks this and let's say it goes up to 75 dmg, it will become absolute mayhem.
+5 all stats is ridiculous too for the current price. It really should be kept to +3. The passive is worth the 550 gold spent.
