I fear I am not using grapple to its fullest potential.
For the most part i find I am just usingit like a shorter range dev hook., although that is nice since it can go through creeps.
I try to get blink dagger on gauntlet to try and position better but i usually just use that to get into position for an ult. And while blinking behind someone and pushing them with grapple owns it is very very hard to do and without ult its almost impossibleand its much better to use theult to disable as many people as possible.
Pushing a hero furthar away from your team i find is generally a bad idea in a team fight if you did not use the grapple to pull them closer at the start
So i guess my question is how do i use a long range push grapple to its fullest potential thanks?
Grapple works in the way that wherever you click the skill, Gauntlet will be thrown at that spot. So if you click the hero you want to have grappled and he's within range, you will grapple TO HIM. Likewise, if you click right in front of you, the grapple will bring you almost no distance, and bring your target (assuming you got one) towards you - like Devourer's hook. Go into practice mode and try this out a few times. Place heroes all around yourself in the river, throughout the entire river. Get whatever boots you normally have on, and run through the river grappling heroes in different fashions, close and long range.
I think this is the answer you're looking for?
You also can click way behind your enemy to get him and yourself to that spot. Thats pretty useful to hook an enemy in your tower or to save yourself and an ally by hooking you over a cliff or sth. pretty versatile skill with many, many uses. It will always travel the 800 distance and if you hit anyone you will get to the spot you clicked at.
I guess i wasnt very clear. I know how gapple works. I dont understand in a teamfight or a gank when pushing a hero far away is more useful than pulling a hero towards yourself?
It does sometimes come up in a gank where you can push the hero to your allies or into a tower, but during teamfights i dont see how its useful as coming from behind the enemy is difficult and extremely risky since it requires you to be all alone with their team in between you and your team. Pushing a hero far away in a team fight isnt a good idea either since it puts that hero out of range of your allies as well.
So is there somthing im missing here? or is gauntles grapple basically just a shorter dev hook with situational utility of pushing heroes? Seems like this ability scales the most with its push range as the nuke damage on it is mediocre, but you rarely if ever use that extra range.
From my experience with Gauntlet, you're better off targeting halfway or on the hero rather than on the hero. Only use it like Dev's hook if you're trying to get someone up on a ledge or something like that, 'cause most of the time the additional difficulty in aiming it isn't worth it.
Ideally you're supposed to Blink in, ult, apply the Consumed By Power debuff to all of the target's allies and Grapple the target into your team. The problem is that to hit the whole enemy team you have to target an enemy with maximum range so that the Glove freezes as many people as possible, meaning you can't get to the target in time to Grapple him back.
So basically, there isn't really a right way to do it, the hero is just a really bad design right now.
I have returned![]()
1. Try to grapple some jungle guy.
2. Stuck your gauntlet in some rocks.
3. Get a free ward.
It's kind of hard to hit perfectly, but by any means possible. You just have to judge their path / force them in a direction and then catch them in a straight line with where you want to go.
What's also VERY useful is saving your allies with it.
There's no "I" in team. There's a "me" though, if you jumble it up.
