so, im contemplating buying As I Lay Dying's 2nd/3rd album, but im kind of on the fence about it.
people who actually like metalcore/metal only please
i dont need death metal fags telling me metalcore is ***** metal.
oh, and you troll me and ill smite ye so hard...
so, honest opinions, and be specific about what you like/dont like.
As for what i think about them, Toms screaming is a bit too raw for me, but i really like the instrumentation.
i really liked powerless rise and oceans between us, so im curious what others think.
FINE, im in the same boat as you are, didn't like the vocals too much noise not my type of thing, instruments were pretty good.

If you're unsure, download the entire album and have a listen 2 or 3 times from start to finish, remember that a lot of music grows on you.
While I don't listen to any kind of metal, I'm pretty sure that way of doing things should work for you as it always works for me, although I won't be able to give you any thoughts on the actual music itself if you need that.
You shouldn't really need someone elses opinion to decide whether you like something or not. Music is totally subjective.

i was just hoping some smart people would be able to point out some specific things that might push me to one side or the other.
I don't know Cds too well.. The one with a skeleton on it is beyond badass.. Gimme Album names, and I could give a more accurate opinion.

Search "As I Lay Dying," listen, decide for yourself.
No one else can tell you if you're going to like music or not.
Opinion:
Just listened to one of their songs - under the assumption that a band named after a William Faulkner book couldn't possibly be too bad.

Are you referring to As Frail Words Collapse and Shadows Are Security? If so, get them. They aren't quite as heavy as The Powerless Rise, but they have some melodic stuff that really shines.

I'd also like to point out that just because you don't like something doesn't mean its bad... this should pretty much be common sense. Honestly, I hate Van Gogh's work but that doesn't mean he was a bad artist.

hum, i might get shadows and skip on frail, for now atleast. the screaming on frail is... kinda overdone.
Well I would listen to a few songs from each album on youtube on make a decision from there.

Yay metal. I used to like As I lay Dying, their new CDs aren't that bad. Personally I dislike the vocals, as you said, but the instrumentals are good. That's really all there is to say.
