:IronShield:
See this item? Great for many agility melee heroes.
But what does it provide for a STR hero over a iron buckler:IronBuckler:?
- 6 attack speed
- chance to block 20 damage increased from 60% to 100% against heroes
- less than 1 armor
Yet i see it often on legionnaire, predator, and occasionally other STR heroes. But the worst part is people build it on Beardulon. 300 gold for NOTHING, since he doesn't receive bonuses from stats.
The reason why I opened this thread is because I'm curious what is going on inside the mind of such people. Maybe there's someone around to confess, i bet it will be fascinating.
:IronShield: power!
The more assassin's shrouds, the more assassin you are.
:HelmOfTheBlackLegio :IronShield:
is still better than
:HelmOfTheBlackLegio :HelmOfTheBlackLegio
It's a common item build variation in <1300 psr games. Both standard actually. You'll probably even be flamed hard if you do not buy those in these game.

Iron shield isn't picked up on those heroes. It's mostly picked up by people woh start off with x2 duckboots.
Who the hell is building it on Str??? 1300's?
Quit asking why dumb people build dumb sh*t in low tier games please...
Getting it on STR heroes is like building an insanitarius on the madman
****ing retarded.

on beardulon, if you want 100% block chance its a decent item, 550g for 100% block and nothing more, but can be put on wildsoul later for some weird reason... (or when you got an extra slot and need the damage more than the bear needs survivability, waste of time and not gaining much from this, but still 6 more as and auto atk damage can be the difference between a kill and not a kill.)
but the math explains a lot more
if you want 2 iron bucklers you will end up having a block chance of
60% x 100% = 40%
40% x 60% = 24%
the damage reduction is only an average of
76% x 20 damage = 15.2 damage pr atk
instead of 50g more, for 100% block meaning 4.8 block for 50g
though this is not suggest though because you only want an iron buckler and logger's hatchet + health potion, so really no need to spend 250-300g extra on a shield, but
iron shield > 2 iron bucklers
stats or not, while legionaire wants to build ONE!!!!! HoTBL so he can choose to either buy one iron shield, disassemble it as soon as he got money for HoTBL (remember you get 150 from2x duck boots) oh btw you will not have enough money for any regen at all with this build so ...... haha DON'T build it unless you randomed or got a reliable lane mate to skip some of his money to give you a health potion or runes of blight.
Also at low armor values 0.8 armor adds more armor than 0.8 would add when you already have 10-20 armor. you can ofc get a courier to send you a health potion or something after you killed some creeps. then just build towards your HoTBL and PK. also on Pred I got no idea, but he scales nicely with AS and he doesn't have any harm of getting some extra armor, if he is jungling this would be somehow appropriate otherwise he would have 10x more use of a better item.
I only get it on night hound and sandwraith. Sometimes I skip it and rush nullblade if I'm doing a good job at farming and getting kills.
Oh yeah? Well, I was hunted once. I'd just came back from 'Nam. I was hitching through Oregon and some cop started harassing me. Next thing you know, I had a whole army of cops chasing me through the woods! I had to take 'em all out--it was a bloodbath!"Originally Posted by OsamaBLaden;1941129

I caught Warden getting an iron shield on pestilence. I have no clue why people do this.
yea its only worth it on agi to save spots on str dont even think about it
You could also say "Sheepstick isn't bad on Madman" and be correct - it's not like having a Sheepstick in your inventory hurts you in any way; it gives you lots of extra mana regen; and it gives you a nice disable. The fact that there are better items isn't directly relevant(until you completely tier out your inventory - which isn't usually an issue).
Similarly, any item without negative effects "isn't bad" on any hero, so depending on how far you want to stretch this you can make the phrase "isn't bad" essentially meaningless.
I do this all the time. Every real mans inventory is :IronShield::HelmOfTheBlackLegio:ShamansHeaddress: :Steamboots::BehemothsHeart::BarbedArmor:. On every Hero.
The reason some people get it on a str hero while laning is because it helps a great chunk against a dual ranged lane as melee.
cuts the early game harass down with 30 - 50% depending on the dmg of the heroes that is.
lets you stay in the lane alot longer and cuts down on consumables aswell.
